First Ward

The First Ward neighborhood is a buzzing and energetic community, one of four wards within Uptown Charlotte. First Ward benefits from being part of the Uptown energy - this is where large businesses like Bank of America, Duke Energy, and the East Coast HQ of Wells Fargo sit alongside numerous museums, theaters, restaurants, residential developments, and retail. In 1974, Charlotte’s central business district was renamed to “Uptown”.
