West End

Blend of Old and New Boston
West End is one of the smaller neighborhoods of Boston, blending both the old with the new. Early in its history, West End was typically left behind in attracting residents. This is far from the case today. West End is now dominated by modern high rises and vibrant social hubs scattered throughout the neighborhood. TD Garden is a huge attraction for the city as it is home to the Boston Celtics basketball team and the Bruins hockey team. This is perfect for fans of Boston sports, and the West End residents greatly enjoy being close to their favorite home teams. The Garden also hosts a variety of entertainment options, including ice-shows and large-scale concerts. There is also the Otis House Museum, a history museum that offers tours of the 1796 historic building.

West End offers great restaurants and bars as many of them are highly rated online. Restaurants in the area include Bishop's Mediterranean, Viva Burrito, Clink, and Causeway Boston. Bars to check out on nights out for a drink include Liberty Lobby Bar, Alibi, The Hill Tavern, Harvard Gardens, Porters Bar and Grill, and Ward 8. West End is a great spot for sports fans and anyone looking for a neighborhood that is a perfect blend of the old and new Boston.

West End — 9/10 Rating (based on 7 neighborhood reviews)
The Longfellow Towers are very close to 5 different train lines which makes it a very walkable area. There are lots of restaurants and bars close by, TD Garden one block over and two grocery stores within a couple of blocks. The Thoreau Path (walking trail) is directly out the back door of the buildings and leads to the Esplanade by the Charles River. From this location, anywhere in downtown Boston is within a 1 mile walk, and most less than that.

The Towers at Longfellow
My experience in the West End has been great so far - especially for purposes of traveling to school. My walk to campus is roughly one mile - which takes about 20 minutes to walk. Sometimes the neighborhood is especially busy on nights where there are events at the TD Garden.

Expensive but good part of town. Needs a better grocery store nearby, otherwise no complaints! Great place to live. Roommates exceptional.

It is a very residential area which I like. I find it safe and calm but access to grocery stores, cafes and public transportation are very easy.

Close to public transit, close to work, close to the hospital, in a very active and social part of Boston.

The neighborhood is right next to the Charles River and Beacon Hill, two wonderful areas in Boston. The only grocery stores nearby are fairly expensive however.
