Eastside
Rising with Potential
Back in the 1990’s Eastside was known as a dangerous neighborhood, not safe for anyone to walk through at night. However, times have changed at Eastside as it has become a much safer town. As a result, Eastside has transitioned into an up and coming neighborhood that is currently in a resurgence. College of Charleston students have rushed into Eastside to seek low-rent housing. This has resulted in the rents increasing slightly every year. Although Eastside is still not the safest neighborhood in Charleston, it is hard not to see the potential that Eastside has for the future.
The residents of Eastside recommend a short trip just outside of town for the good restaurants and bars. Restaurants that are highly rated by the locals of Eastside include Taco Boy, Henrietta's at The Dewberry, 39 Rue De Jean, Barsa Tapas Lounge & Bar, and Little Jack's Tavern. Bars that are great on nights out include Proof, Warehouse, Prohibition, and A C's Bar & Grill. Eastside is a great spot to live for more affordable housing and those who want to experience the resurgence of the neighborhood.

Cool neighborhood but better if you live in a normal place, if you’re looking for safety/security not really for you, especially if they put you in the Nassau side

It has only been 2 weeks, but we like the local biergarden and Hannibal's restaurant. It is great if you like running, I run along the water everyday and it's an uninterrupted 2 miles down to a nice park.

Close to the parks by Trident Technical Campus. Sometimes there are loud events, but the people in the neighborhood care about the community. Have had only one major run in with a homeless person in three years.
The most annoying thing is honestly other college students being drunk on the streets. Keep reading
