Mira Mesa
A Diverse Young Professional Hub
Mira Mesa is a large neighborhood of approximately 70,000 people along I-5, and less than two miles from Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. Originally a small military housing base for the nearby air station, Mira Mesa later became a part of San Diego and experienced a massive residential development boom beginning in the 1970s. With a dense urban layout, Mira Mesa contains several apartment communities of various sizes, and is popular with young professionals due to the many nearby businesses and lower cost of living. The center of the neighborhood is dominated by a large commercial district, which contains the Mira Mesa Mall. A culturally diverse area, there are many ethnic restaurants running along Mira Mesa Blvd.
