Cedar-Riverside — 8.4/10 Rating (based on 23 neighborhood reviews)
Generally I like the neighborhood. I wish there were more restaurants nearby. I love the park in the neighborhood. My only complaint is that there is a lot of litter, which my dog likes to try to eat, and sometimes my wife doesn't feel super comfortable walking the dog late at night, as people will shout at her.

The West Bank lacks in convenient food options. While there are a lot of bars right by the building, one can only eat at these places so many times. Note, perceptions on safety in the neighborhood vary. Some feel it is perfectly fine, but others do not.

Living across from the law school is extremely convenient and I don’t need a car since we are so close to the light rail. Also, I am a big fan of the Republic and Bullwinkles which are next door!

I barely live in Cedar-Riverside. There is something of a divide between the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood and the Seven Corners area, where 7 West is located. Overall, it is fairly quiet and well lit. Despite there being four bars at one intersection, it does not get rowdy. The property companies at the apartment buildings nearby do a good job of maintaining the area and it never feels run down or unsafe.

Pretty loud at all hours - people play music with windows open in the middle of the night, sporting events cause crowds, bars keep the streets noisy most nights.
Shopping is not really within walking distance but there is a bus stop about a quarter mile away and a light rail station about half to 3/4 of a mile away. Definitely better to have a car over here, although you can walk to Trader Joes and Starbucks. It is definitely much safer than across the river near the undergrad housing.

The neighborhood is known for its diversity and it is one of the things I like most about it. Everyone is very friendly. I have never felt unsafe, even though people have warned me that I might not at times. Driving around the neighborhood can be a little treacherous because people often walk in the street and cars tend to ignore traffic laws but if you're vigilant, you're fine.

The neighborhood apparently gets a bad reputation, I can't see why. It is quite safe, many families live here, and the only real problem is families being loud at night. No one here is doing anyone any harm.
