Charming Historic Neighborhood North of Mile Square
St. Joseph Historic Neighborhood in Indianapolis offers a unique blend of history, culture, and community. It's a place where you can walk down the street and feel like you're stepping into a different time, all while enjoying the modern amenities and conveniences that make urban living so appealing.

St. Joseph boasts a fascinating history that dates back to the mid-19th century. Many of the homes and buildings in the neighborhood were constructed during this time and have been meticulously maintained or restored by the St. Joseph Neighborhood Association to preserve their original charm.

Adding to the preserved aesthetic, St. Joseph has several green spaces, such as the picturesque St. Joseph Park. The neighborhood is close to the Indianapolis Museum of Art, The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, and the Indiana State Museum, making it an ideal location for those who appreciate art, culture, and history while residing outside the urban amenities of Indianapolis.

St. Joseph — 8.8/10 Rating (based on 8 neighborhood reviews)
It’s a great mix of quiet and residential and social. There are some bars, parks, coffee shops. It’s right off Mass Ave and really close to the bottlworks district. There is so much within walking distance. It’s diverse with people from different backgrounds and walks of life.

The apartment building is next to projects that are sandwiched in-between it and nice shops. This is definitely a mixed area, but it is nice being so close to downtown.

The building is just outside of the neighborhood, so there is a short walk to community life, but the building is right across the street from the Indianapolis Public Library which is really nice. It is an easy walk to nightlife as well.

Mass Ave is great and there are so many restaurants and cute boutiques. It is generally a safe neighborhood, but I don't often go out and walk at night. Again, the apartments are very secure.
