Spacious with Drawbacks
Truly the only apartments I could find within commuting range of my graduate program with 1000 square feet and no holes or mold for this price. There are some drawbacks: parking is like $40 a person, and each apartment can only have 2 guest parking passes at a time which have to be picked up physically at the office during working hours. This means that for holidays, we have to coordinate carpooling for any family stopping by. The towing company is ruthless and very fast, so forgoing passes is not an option. Additionally, every apartment is carpeted throughout (aside from kitchen and bathroom). They say that they replace the carpets between tenants, but ours had fleas when we moved in. The carpet also does little to muffle the creaky floors and sounds of vertical neighbors and THEIR creaky floors. Appliances are also extremely outdated. I will say, however, that the leasing office is incredibly nice, especially Andrew.
Hampton Court - Brookline
This apartment complex includes heat and water. I pay $200 per month for parking and $2350 per month in rent. The neighbors are very friendly, I have not had any complaints in regards to the people living here. The laundry is on the 2nd floor of the apartment, in which you have to pay $2.50 per wash/dry load. The St. Paul Green Line T stop is right outside of the apartment for easy travel access. Overall, it is a great area to live in right outside of Coolidge Corner. Easy walking access to groceries, restaurants, gyms, etc.
DO NOT RENT HERE. HORRIBLE.
DO NOT RENT HERE. As great as these units seem, the management company is awful and there will always be construction. They lied to us and said there wouldn't be, but we've been living in a construction zone since we moved in with no end in sight. It's completely covered in trash and dog poop. It is severely overpriced for the condition of the complex and the incompetency of the management office. We've had water shutdown now almost weekly and multiple times a week. When we've reported health and safety issues, we've been ignored for 6+ months.
We would have never moved here had we known it would always be under construction. Do not trust the leasing office -- they will lie to get you to sign a lease. 0/10 experience. Worst living experience of my life.
Brookline
I’d recommend Chestnut Hill Realty mgmt company. I’ve lived in a couple of their properties over the years. North Brookline is a great place to live - quiet and convenient. Probably more ideal for non traditional students with careers.
Great for families but need a car
I chose this place because of the school district (Brookline). It's amazing for kids. The school is wonderful and my 9 year old son can play with his friends outside most days, even during the winter. It has a bus line that connects with the green line but the frequency of the bus isn't great. Having a car is highly recommended.
Great experience
Great. Clean environment and fast maintenance.
Awesome management and really nice units
This was my third apartment in Boston, and I have to say it’s by far the best apartment I’ve lived in. While it goes without saying that apartments in Boston are expensive, Longwood Towers are definitely worth it. Management is outstanding and the doormen are really friendly. The kitchens have been recently renovated which is a huge plus since the wife and I both enjoy cooking. Our neighbors are also really nice.
