Woodbury Gardens reviews and highlights
- best combination of price, amenities, and location
- great neighborhood
- lots of green space, which is great for walking dogs
- serene and removed from noise
- clean and the maintenance team is very responsive
Cheap(er), quiet, old
Woodbury has lots of grad students and is quiet (you won't be woken up by the train on Main Street, there aren't loud apartment parties here, it's on quiet dead end streets).
It is a couple hundred dollars cheaper and more spacious than the "luxury" high rise options on Main Street, but still far more expensive than what someone should reasonably be paying for a 50 year old "meh" apartment in Michigan.
Management is not great. There is a high volume of non-violent theft (people's cars being broken into at night--it's really dark out here and the street/parking lot lights are frequently broken and no one bothers to fix them). But it is definitely safe to walk around here.
It is nice to be around so many other MBA students here, though. I've made lots of friends at Woodbury!
It is what it is. Ann Arbor doesn't have great student housing options in general. Pick your poison. Woodbury tends to be a decent choice for couples (because more space) and people who are a bit more price conscious.

Woodbury Gardens Review
Woodbury is a bit of a walk from Ross, but there is a shuttle and the local bus that helps

Perfect for family with kids
Several MBA students with partner and kids are living in Woodbury, enabling to connect each other easily. Also, there is a community of families living in Woodbury, holding weekly sports/music lessons as well as seasonal events for kids.
Townhouses are spacious and well maintained although they are bit old. No complaint about managements but maintenances sometimes take time especially during summer to fall when moving is concentrated.

It's fine
It's an old building and there's been a few issues with maintenance, but they eventually get resolved. It's a great option if you want to live alone on a budget. Jeff, the shuttle bus diver, is an absolute gem.

Comfortable
Moving here with my partner and pet, we've established a comfortable community and lifestyle away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Ann Arbor + campus. While the commute and distance from Ross is at times inconvenient, there are plenty of shuttles, buses, etc. to get to campus relatively quickly. I would recommend a car when living here.

Woodbury Gardens upgraded townhome
No complaints. I live relatively close to campus - I either bike, drive, or take one of several public buses to campus. The apartment is spacious and really nice.

Pricier than other places but still affordable and tons of perks.
I have a premium apartment (upgraded interior) with in-unit laundry. The place is really spacious (~900 square feet) an an 80 square foot storage unit in the basement is included in the rent as well. The property has a TON of amenities, and overall I have very few complaints. The walls are a bit thin (I can hear downstairs neighbors sometimes) and I have heard not as great things about the laundry buildings with communal washing rooms, mostly that the laundry never feels totally clean, but I personally have had no issues living here. The biggest problem is the fact that the train runs close to hear and can wake me up sometimes because the horn is LOUD. Other than that it's a great place to live. Super pet and student friendly!!

Great Spot and Community
Woodbury Gardens is not the fanciest place, but it is affordable, lots of folks live here, and has a shuttle to campus. It is really a solid place to live.

Woodbury for couples + dog
Perfect for people looking for more space for a cheaper price, especially if you have a partner that works from home. Tradeoff is the distance to campus but the bus is super convenient/reliable and free, and the walk takes ~25 mins so very doable on nice days. Tons of Rossers live there so easy to coordinate carpools. Free parking and gym access. Very dog friendly. Option to get upgraded apts with newer appliances and details. WAY quieter than the yard/618. Not super walkable area, definitely need a car. Maintenance is responsive and quick, and management is amenable to feedback. Renting process was very smooth. Tons of closet space.

Yost Reviews
I haven't had to go to school in person yet (due to the pandemic) - but once things are back in person, I would use the community shuttle to get to campus and possibly back depending on the time of day I head back. Otherwise, I would take the bus or walk. Walking takes about 30 min but the bus will cut down most of that since there is a city stop right at the entrance to Woodbury.
