Nice!
I've really liked my time at S9. It's no frills compared to B9 and 810 but there's a lot of Fuqua people which is fun and I think I pay less compared to people in other complexes on 9th street. Our leasing staff is also incredible. Super helpful and willing to work with you when things come up.

Overall Good Apt
The recommendation is to pick apartment not on the first floor because the floor is concrete and not hard wood. And there will be more bugs on the first floor because of the weather here. Other than those problems Station Nine is a great place to live since it is very close to Ninth street and grocery stores. The amenities are fully equipped and staff members are super friendly.

Okay
Cockroach problem, spotty internet, and annoying requirements for trash pickup. Otherwise it does the job and the apartments are fine amenity-wise. On-site free maintenance staff is also super helpful and prompt with resolving issues!

Paying for the convenience
Pros:
-Spacious, clean, and new space. Good amenities--pool, gym, etc.
-Responsive building management has always gotten back to me within the day to address issues.
-Location is ideal, right by Harris Teeter for grocery, variety of dining options on 9th St, and good for socializing as many other Duke grad students live in the area.
Cons:
-Cost. Rent in most of the 9th St apartments is about twice the rate of similar spaces around Durham. You could rent an entire house with what we pay for a 2BD/2BA. You are also forced to pay for valet trash ($35/month) with strict rules that can leave you with occasional fines.
-S9 is right by the train tracks and you can hear loud train whistles throughout the day and night. I've adjusted somewhat by having a very loud white noise machine on at night but am still woken up occasionally in the early morning hours. There also seems to be constant noise from landscaping happening in the meditation garden/courtyard. Maybe less of a problem if I had fewer Zoom classes during the day but for now it's very disruptive, if I'm unmuted others on the call will hear the train and landscaping noises come through.

I love living here!
The apartment is well-situated right by Ninth Street, which has restaurants, a few bars, some cool stores, and a Harris Teeter. The apartment is really big and my only issue with it is the cement floor (ew.)

The room I live in is a 1B1B loft. So it’s very spacious.
It’s quite safe and it’s near the Ninth street. It’s super close to Harris Teeter, just 5 min walk.

Best complex I’ve lived at
I can’t explain how great living at S9 is. The apartments are super spacious, the location is perfect, the lease terms are flexible without increasing prices and the facilities are very nice. But I’d have to say that my favorite thing so far has been the leasing office. They truly make you feel at home since day one. The process was extremely quick and to the point. They host so many activities, food trucks, giveaways and free lunches. They make me love living here.
