Station Nine reviews and highlights

- maintenance requests are answered promptly
- great place to live
- small gym
- a little overpriced
- great pool in the summer
- conveniently located
Great place if you have a car
It’s a great choice if you own a car. Residents include MBA students, undergrad students from the East campus. It’s next to Harris Teeter, and there’re a few restaurants. However, for those without a car, you might want to think twice about the ways of commuting, as taking buses may not be as convenient as living in other places.

Station Nine - Good Location, but Pricey
Station Nine has been good. Walls are pretty sound proof. We live in a single bedroom loft apartment and love to tall ceilings. The location is great - very walkable to ninth street area and short drive (within 8 minutes) to almost everyone in Durham/Duke campus. The gym is good, and there are several other nice amenities.

Nice but overpriced
I don't know why so many Fuqua students live here given that there are nicer apartments for the same price or cheaper. And it's not walkable to downtown Durham. But it doesn't change the fact that everyone lives here and that has its benefits.
It's a fine building with decent amenities and apartments. But the floors on the first floor are cement and cracking, the hallways are exposed to the outdoors and not tempature controled, the gym is just okay, there's no hot tub or steam room or anything, there is a dog run but it's small. Station Nine is fine - there's just no reason it's special.
The management is great though - they've always very accomodating, friendly, and helpful.

Station Nine - worth the price for ease & convenience!
I really enjoy living at S9. There are several classmates who live here as well which is fun but primarily I love the ease & convenience provided on-site and in the location. It is about a 10 minute drive to campus and in a walkable area. Additionally, the study rooms, pool, & gym have been super convenient. I also have a unit with additional room for an office which has been a blessing during virtual school.

Station 9 - Roommate Apt
Great spot! You cannot beat the location to Duke University -- I walk to school most days and it is 30 minutes door to door. The apartment building itself is really nice, my unit has 30-foot ceilings with a loft. Great spot for studying/a small office. Station 9 is located right off ninth street with many amazing restaurants and shops. Rent is a bit high but you can't beat the location. Highly recommend!

Quite overpriced but convenient and mostly solid
I'll say this upfront: Station Nine is very overpriced for what it is. You're paying a huge premium for location and convenience and you can do that for a much better apartment at Berkshire Ninth Street or 810 Ninth.
For the positives of S9, if you want to be a social graduate student, S9 is great for convenience. It feels like an off campus dorm and I've loved that aspect. Most of the Duke graduate program 9th Street parties happen at the Station Nine pool or apartments, so it's nice to already be there.
Another positive is that the common areas are outstanding. One of the best apartment building gyms I've ever seen, great business center including printing, beautiful lobby/clubhouse, awesome pool area with grills and a fire pit during the winter.
Don't worry about people whining that S9 can be loud. It's an apartment building for college students; of course it can be loud. I've never had an issue getting to sleep at a reasonable time on a weeknight though. Noise comes when you'd think it would: Friday and Saturday nights. Live somewhere else if being social on weekends bothers you.
The apartments themselves are spacious and deserve credit for that but have some irritating issues. Appliances and toilets break and need to be fixed by maintenance frequently. The exhaust vent that shuttles hot air outside when the AC is running feeds directly onto the balcony, making it unusable during the exact time of year that you would want to use it. The finishes in the kitchens and bathrooms are outdated and subpar.
Don't get me wrong. It's a solid apartment but you should get much more for the rents that they charge in Durham, North Carolina. Berkshire Ninth Street and 810 Ninth prove that.
