Serious pest issues
During summer time, the pest issues (mainly cockroaches) are extremely serious here at Belmont. The pest control from leasing office didn't help much.

Great place to live!
The Belmont is a 15 minute walk from the Engineering Quad. I never saw a single cockroach, and the landscaping was always nice. I felt very safe living there, and parking was never an issue. The appliances were good, but not great. The lease agreements are not very flexible with our program. They end in May and many of us leave in December. The leasing office found somebody to take over my place and I ended up paying about 1 extra month of rent while I was not living there.

Great Place to Stay
I've really enjoyed my 1.5-year stay at the Belmont! The staff is great and helpful. I also found an apartment close to the main gate and in front of the lake. Belmont is conveniently located to the campus (about a 13 min walk away) and close to Krogers. A little pricey but a safe and comfortable place to stay.

Belmont is bomb
Great amenities, staff, and value. Would highly recommend to any students seeking housing. One of the closest developments to campus (~15 minute walk)

Great for Duke Students
Since a lot of my classmates live at the Belmont, the neighborhood experience is great. I love the clubhouse here and the free amenities such as printing, coffee machine (great hot chocolate), and work space. The landscaping around the apartments is beautiful and makes it feel homely. The bus stop is right outside and you can catch buses to go almost anywhere from there.
One downside is the thinness of the walls. It's not that big a deal being a student because I'm not home much, but sometimes it can get disturbing (especially if you have the noisy kind of neighbor).
Apart from that everything gets a thumbs up from me. In particular, I am very pleased with the response time of the maintenance team. They get the work done ASAP and with a smile, so you don't have to worry about the functioning of the apartment.
Lastly, there's Erwin Plaza at a 5 minute walking distance from the back gate which has many eatery options like Chipotle, Noodles&Co. , Enzo's Pizza, Smash Burger, TGIF, Firehouse Subs, Dunkin Donuts, Baskin Robins and also has a nail and hair salon and spa!

The Belmont is an excellent place to live
I truly love the Belmont! It's a great location to campus, ninth street, and Kroger; it is where a lot of students in my program live (or near them); in the summer time the pool, walking trail around the pond, picnic tables, and gazebo are amazing (especially the pool!!); the gym is a little small but has exactly what I need for a good workout; maintenance is extremely quick and helpful; and everyone who works here is so friendly
