value for the location

conveniently located near grant park. if you have a dog, the south loop area is way more dog friendly than the loop near millenium park. this location means you'll use the museum campus metra stop, one stop before the millenium metra stop. if you take the campus shuttle there are two convenient stops nearby. one downside here is having to pay for laundry on site, no in-unit laundry option is available but internet IS included with your rent.

Park michigan- Great Location!

What an amazing place! So close to all of the shopping centers, nearby a grocery store, right next to a CTA station. Absolutely wonderful, super convenient and nothing but positives to say :D. The only thing that I wish would change is the temperature control--during the summer, the apartment gets painfully hot.

Park Michigan- Would highly recommend

I absolutely love living at Park Michigan. It is close to the L, grocery stores, entertainment, and many great restaurants! The staff here is always easy to reach and very helpful. Maintenance is amazing. I highly recommend it! The only things I wish I could change is the price for parking. I do wish there was a pool/hot tub. However, the location, views, and amazing amount of sunlight make up for it!

Park Michigan (South Loop)

I enjoy living here very much. It is close to many forms of public transportation and taking the #2 bus makes it easy to get to and from school. The downside of living here is that without a car the commute to school can sometimes be difficult.

Overpriced, but Great Location and Friendly Staff

The location of Park Michigan is excellent, right at the border of the Loop and South Loop, which allows easy access to many different transit options, including an express bus to the law school. Trader Joes, Jewel Osco, and Walgreens are all next door. Whole Foods, a movie theater, and Target are all within walking distance.

The apartment istelf is not particularly nice. The views are fantastic, and corner units get an incredible view and amount of light. However, finishes are cheap, ceilings are a bit low, and carpet is extremely cheap. Windows do not open enough to get a breeze. The HVAC units are horrible, old, and heat on electricity, so they are very expensive to run in winter.. The units and hallways are extremely clean.

Staff is excellent. Management is kind and accomodating, particularly Mark Mybeck. Maintenance staff are extremely friendly and do a great job. The front door staff do a good job keeping the building secure.

All around solid South Loop spot

Nothing in particular stands out about Park Michigan, but everything is pretty solidly good. South loop is a great area, and PM is perfectly positioned in it; it's a block from the L, and right across the street from the park. The apartments themselves are nice, with big wraparound windows and comfortably sized rooms (and big closets!). The gym is pretty solid for a small city gym (it's a SnapFitness, so it's better than just a normal apt gym would be). Notably, PM is a block from both a Trader Joe's and a Jewel Osco. All around, it's a great place to live.

Great Location, Great Building

Perfect location for a U Chicago student, since it is very close to the 2 Express bus to Hyde park (just an 18 minute ride). Love the gym, love how it's close to the CTA station and plenty of restaurants/bars/stores. And we even have a view of Lake Michigan!

The downsides: On the expensive end for a one-bedroom. Worst is the fact that the heating is an electric wall unit in each room that is very inefficient and relatively costly - the electric bill for the winter months is over $100 (non-winter months it was more like $35).

Overall, really like the building!

Good price for what you get

Park Michigan Apartments are a great option for law students. The building amenities are well-tailored for busy people. The building collaborates with Pressbox, a dry cleaning service that does two day dry cleaning. You can drop off and pick up whenever you want. The front desk accepts packages so you don't have to be home. The gym is 24-hours. Best of all, the building is about a 3 minute walk to a Trader Joes, a Jewel, and the Red/Orange/Green lines. It's about a 5 minute walk to the 2 bus, which runs express to Chicago Law School in the morning and afternoons. It's a great place to live to be close to school but also close to downtown.

Perfect Location

Easiest access to Hyde Park w/o living in Hyde Park. The building staff is also phenomenal.

South Loop Reviews

As a single woman it was very important for me to live in an area that was safe given that the medical school schedule will require me to come home at night. Also it gives me great peace of mind to live in a building with doormen 24/7 in case anything were to happen. However, this has come at at a great cost.
South Loop is quieter than the Loop, but you will get more space. Ideal for parents, people with partners that work remotely, or people looking for more space for their money. Outside of Bears games, has far fewer tourists to deal with than the Loop.
Across Michigan Ave from Grant Park. 10-minute walk from the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, and Soldier Field.
Roosevelt station is very close by and incredibly convenient if you don't mind taking the train or buses, but it is a transit hub, so expect increased numbers and variety of people.
Not far from the rest of the Loop, and you can still easily make your way north for study groups and social events.
The neighborhood is great. It has become so much nicer in the past few years due to all of the new building that have gone up. The Roosevelt stop can be a little sketchy from time to time but I just stay alert when I’m over there. Having a Trader Joe’s, Mariano’s, Target, Wholefoods and Jewel nearby is super nice.
Great neighborhood with beautiful views of the city. Really starting to boom and will continue to grow to be one of the hottest in the city. Does not feel 'neighborhood-y' as some of the western and northern neighborhoods due. Feels like you're still in an urban environment, just outside of the loop.
The area is still up and coming. There are plenty of grocery stores and some shopping that is easily drivable. It is much cleaner than the loop area. The nightlife scene isn't great, but there are a few good restaurants in the area. Also can't beat living across from Grant Park! The Loop area and River North is walkable, or very easy with public transportation.
It's a lot livelier than Hyde Park, and you are far more connected to the rest of Chicago. Printer's Row feels a lot safer too, and I do not feel as concerned when I walk around at night. It has great little bars and restaurants, and is close to a Trader Joe's, Jewel, and Target. There is a Mariano's and Whole Foods a few minutes further away.
Close to everything, but not so close it's congested or a headache to get from place to place. Trader Joe's, Jewel, nearby. Plenty of bars and restaurants walking distance. Walking distance to the el, Soldier Field, the Shedd. Also, easy access to the expressway if you're driving.Street parking is typically plentiful, except during events at Solider Field (parking ban during games).
If went further south than 22ND street it tends to get a little sketchy, but overall a nice area.
Printer's Row is near the Loop and train stations and is therefore easily accessible. It's also near Grant Park and the Lake which is great during the summer. There are some decent restaurants and a few bars, but if you're young you'll probably be heading up to River North and further north for a night out. Overall, the neighborhood feels very friendly but has a great location, and new construction in the South Loop will surely make Printer's Row even better.
