I've been living in Bladensburg Gardens for about 1.5 now and its a cool place to live. I've only had a couple of leaks in which the building management came the same day to repair. The building is relatively clean (they bring a cleaning crew weekly) except that, and I'm not trying to be classist, often the building reeks of marijuana. I believe it is due to the transitioning neighborhood and also that the DC is such a college town, and since the rent is soooooo affordable, you may have some college kids lighting up a dooby to unwind from the stresses of college. It is also legal in DC. Also, the neighborhood can be a bit noisy. It's a bit nicer in the winter because generally we keep the windows closed, but when spring and summer come around, you can hear everything.
As I mentioned before, the neighborhood is transitioning. That means that there is a mix of classes and races. There is a great little brewery up the street named Bardo's and its about an 8 minute walk to the H Street Corridor where there are lots of restaurants (GREAT BRUNCH PLACES!!!) and bars and a thriving nightlife. There's a Capital Bikeshare about a 5 to 6 minute walk away and buses that run up and down H street, Florida Ave. and K street that could get you into Downtown within 30 to 45 minutes. Union Station is a mile away.

The K St, NE apartment is spacious, with great natural lighting and decent storage. A comfortable sized 1-bedroom for a couple. One coin operated washer and dryer can be found in each building, of the 3-bldg complex. The complex is friendly and diverse; though the surrounding area is less than ideal. The property is within walking distance of the X2 and other major bus lines, Grocery Stores, Bars and Restaurants.
