Too many hidden fees
The environment is nice and everything, but I hated how many hidden fees they have. They charged me after I moved out even when I asked them if they would charge me and they said no. It's super shady and I just feel like they should be more upfront about certain things. I got an email saying I owed $90. I thought that was it until I rechecked the housing portal and it said that I owed over $300. I still don't understand HOW THIS IS POSSIBLE. It's super annoying and shady. Just keep in mind they have a lot of weird hidden fees if you're going to live here.

Very positive experience
I have had a great experience here. Wonderful location, very safe, and the management team is super responsive. I’m living here again next year and I highly recommend!

Very Chaotic
I have lived in multiple student apartments, and this is my least favorite. Problems started right away. Do not fall for the free gift cards or free parking all of that stuff is straight-up fraud and has a bunch of stipulations that they will not be made aware of until move-in by then you have signed. There are two elevators in the building, and one doesn't work, so be prepared to use the stairs exclusively, especially when you move in. The move-in process itself was very hostile as they would not help me coming from out of state, come up with a place to have a uhaul box delivered. They even made me file for a permit with the city for the box, which I ended up not even needing. I was more capable of figuring this out using google maps than people who were active on the ground, and I wrongfully assumed would try to help me. The furnishings are cheap and dated and will not be inspected, replaced, or repaired in any way when you move in. There is no organization for receiving packages which seems pretty basic to me. I have had to tell my parents not to send me any packages. On top of this issue, they decide to randomly close the leasing office, which means you have minimal and random opportunities to get packages. They attribute closing the leasing office to the mental health of their employees because they could not find anyone to work for the pitiful wages they no doubt pay. The management company has no problem closing the leasing office because the only people facing the consequences are the residents they do not care about. The fobs they give you are some early 2000s tech that breaks constantly and does not open their clunky gate to let you out of the parking lot you pay extra money for as the premium lot. The front door, which leads right into the mail room, does not lock and has never locked, and you could be approached by the homeless or any number of people in the lobby going to your car. Because of the wide open door, my car was broken into in the premium lot. Honestly, I am shocked no one has been assaulted or mugged in the stairwell because of how easy it is to get inside. If you point out any of this to the leasing office, they will gaslight you and act like you are crazy or unreasonable. Honestly, they just exploit college kids and expect you to move on with your life and move somewhere else next year so they can get a fresh batch of young people to pray on. Hopefully, this review does its part to warn against that behavior. I cannot imagine there are any residents who are happy about this stuff.

Great Apartment, but frustrating parking situation
Parking was supposed to be included in the rent this year, but there aren't enough spots in either the main lot or the overflow lot, so often I will have to find street parking. They are charging for reserved parking next year which is supposed to help with this issue, but I don't expect it will be sufficiently enforced. The building itself is nice, the apartment was clean and updated when we moved in, and our first-floor apartment has nice big windows and ten-foot ceilings. My only complaints with the building itself are drafty windows (which can make a serious temperature difference in one of the bedrooms relative to the rest of the apartment), thin walls that allow sound to travel, and no overhead lighting/ceiling fans in the living room and bedrooms. The office is mostly run by students who live there which can make it hard to get in touch with management when you have an issue, but maintenance is very responsive to work requests, the building exterior, and common areas are well maintained, and I feel safe at the complex.

Good apartment for students
West Pine Lofts is an apartment geared for students, so families may not love the environment. My only issue is the parking situation - the lot is small, and if you get back after 7 p.m., there are probably no spots. Our overflow lot is always full too, so you have to resort to street parking where you can find it. They are changing this next year, so now people have to pay for parking. Hopefully the situation is fixed. Also, the walls are very thin, and I hear my neighbors scream when they play video games. Otherwise, I like West Pine Lofts and the amenities. It's about 10-15 to WashU's campus and walking distance from some restaurants, wine bars, etc.
