Decent for the price

Not the most luxurious living for downtown but good location. Smells like marijuana frequently. Not very sociable environment. Biggest gripe is the water bugs coming out of the drain if you don't keep the lid closed.

Getting more expensive with declining management

Have lived here for 4 years. Extremely pet friendly. Convenient distance from NMH/Feinberg. Management has sort of mailed it in over the past two years or so. No problems, just mostly useless. Door staff and maintenance are excellent.

Med student + Spouse, VERY pet friendly

We have absolutely loved living in Asbury Plaza. Management, door staff, maintenance staff, everyone is friendly, supportive, and dedicated to making the residents feel like it's their home. We have a pet ferret and unlike some places in Chicago that describe themselves as pet-friendly, there aren't any "except for..." in the leases here. Southwest side of the building have great views with the building oriented diagonally across the block (haven't seen NE, but they just built One Chicago on that side of the building), floor plans are unique, kitchens are updated, gym is well maintained, and management hosts building events ~monthly including a holiday party at a nearby restaurant. The location just can't be beat. Tons of restaurants around, Red line Chicago station 1 block away, Brown/Purple ~4 blocks away, easy access to Loop lines. If you're a Northwestern student, 10min walk to the Chicago campus. Choice of grocery stores (within walking distance: Whole Foods, 2x Jewel-Osco, Aldi, Trader Joes). The only downside I can really think of is the building is either AC or heat, residents don't have control over when that switches due to Chicago heat ordinances. The building tends to run warm, so we often have our balcony door cracked throughout the winter.

Asbury plaza

All of the finishes are new. The gym is brand new with plenty of space. They redid the lobby and added a free coffee maker. The staff are all super nice. Tre only down side is the subsidized arrangement. I never had any issue, I would just prefer it not to be subsidized for that amount of money each month.

Love it

Apartment is beautiful. They fix everything and deal with everything right away when its needed. It is beautiful. But where the building is located is very noise and it is very hard to deal with when you come home very tired and waking up a few times a night doesn't help.

Great Value for the Location

The Ashbury Plaza at 750 N. Dearborn is a great value for the price. A little-known fact is that this building is part affordable housing so the demographic of the people in the building is very diverse. Recent renovations to the gym and laundry room. I especially like the angled room layout and convertible studio. You get some incredible sunsets as well.

Downtown living with um....interesting architecture

Located on the corner of Chicago and Dearborn, this ~30 floor high rise offers great views, friendly staff, and good amenities. The apartments are a bit expensive (~1600 for a 1br) but thats par for the course in River North, one of Chicago's most expensive areas. My only major complaint is the triangular design which does reduce space and also makes for an awkward entryway to each apartment.

Good for what you pay

The onsite management needs a little work, but overall the property is nice. The elevators are fast. All the amenities were just redone and include a gym, pool, laundry room, coffee bar and computer room. The apartments are a good size and all have little balconies. Maintenance are great and respond quickly.

Location, Location & Great Management

My experience with Asbury Plaza has been nothing short of fantastic. The new management that took over in 2016 is wonderful and very accommodating. The building is consistently trying to update and improve. My apartment is a fairly new and renovated convertible- great square footage, an amazing balcony with a view and huge bathroom with tons of closet space throughout, including a walk in! The building itself had a lot of wonderful amenities too!

River North Reviews

Absolutely loving it! People are always out and about and it is a great place to enjoy with your friends! It is also close to a bunch of other great neighborhoods and so if you want to venture out, it is really easy to do so!
Great neighborhood with lots to do and easy access to public transportation.
We love River North. It doesn't feel as commercialized as Streeterville or the Loop while still being in the thick of it. We can walk to nearly anything we could ever want. We visit the lakeshore trail and riverwalk regularly. Lincoln Park is a mile away, but that doesn't stop us from walking to the farmer's market on Saturdays (also passing the one on Division and Dearborn along the way).
I can't think of any other neighborhood in the country with as many great bars and restaurants in such close proximity. I've lived here over a year and am still exploring new spot within two blocks of my building. The river is also two blocks away which provides for a fantastic place to walk or run. Only downside is there is no full-service gym in the neighborhood.. only boutique workout options like Soul Cycle.
It is very hustle and bustle but the energy is amazing! The dining options are 2nd to none and there is always something new to explore. The walking score of this neighborhood is 100% in my eyes - starbucks, jewel, whole foods, nail salons, walgreens, red line stop, bus stops, endless shopping, eye doctors, etc... you can literally walk everywhere you need to go.
So close to the loop, it's easy to get anywhere. All stations and lines are connected and are a short walk between each other, and buses are frequent with many stops.
It's a sort of business district, so you're in the middle of all the skyscrapers, but they're all beautiful and nothing seems to block out the light. The riverwalk is gorgeous, and is especially fun to walk along on summer nights. It feels safe and secure.
There are so many places to go out to eat, we're spoilt for choice. That said, the cost of living downtown is pretty high. As much as with any big city like Chicago, e.g. New York.
While there is a lot of street traffic, including slow-walking people tourists/suburbanites at their phones and trying to figure where they are going, the neighborhood has incredible amenities all within walking distances - Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Jewel all within three blocks of each other; plus incredible restaurants and bars running the gamut from packed and trendy to divey gems. Great mix of young professionals, young families, and a surprising number of retirees
Apartment is beautifull. They fix everything and deal with everything right away when its needed. It is beautiful. But where building located is very noise and it is very hard to deal with it when you come home very tired and waking up few times a night doesnt help the other day
