Quiet, Well Run, and Affordable

Myerton is a great place for a family or a couple to live. Maintenance is very efficient and responsive, the management is very understanding and accessible, and the residents are all very respectful. It is about a 40-minute walk from downtown, so if you're interested in nightlife, you should be prepared to Uber, scooter, or use the bus, otherwise this may not be the place for you. It's not on a metro line, but three different ART buses have a stop right out front which can get you wherever you need to go.
The amenities are fine--we haven't used the pool, but it's pretty populated over the summer without being crazy. The gym isn't flashy or large but it has all the essentials.
Our apartment is small but feels very homey. The windows are wonderful, and the place was clean when we moved in. Some of the features are older/maybe not as good because they're more compact (a 2-in-1 washer/dryer).
Parking is available for free, but you can also pay $50 a month for a reserved spot. Lots are uncovered, but we've rarely had an issue and most residents respect the "reserved" markers.
We've continually renewed our lease, and will likely do so as long as the price remains in this affordable range. The cost has been creeping up over the past few years since the low Covid prices, but it's hard to come by a well-run, clean, safe one-bedroom apartment like this one at this price in this area.

My Time at the Myerton

Overall: For the price the Myerton has provided what I was looking for. There have been some issues that have impacted my level of comfort while staying here, but have found them tolerable for what I am paying.

What I have enjoyed: The price is definitely right for the price. The rent that I am playing currently is a special pricing, but the normal rate for the unit that I am renting is still only $1899, which is still pretty good for the area. The bus system is nice and after getting use to the schedule is pretty convenient. There is a bus, the 16Y Metrobus, that will take you to Pennsylvania Avenue, a few blocks from the school, in the morning and drop you off right at the apartment complex in the afternoon. The management is really approachable and responsive as well. I have also enjoyed the neighbors who have all been very nice and friendly. The kitchen is very nice. Granite counters, stainless steel appliances, and dark wood flooring. If you are a pet owner you should definitely consider this place. I own a dog and there are a lot of dog owners here so there are plenty of potential playmates and dog-loving people to connect with.

What I have not enjoyed: The second bedroom is a lot smaller than the master bedroom. My roommate is in the second bedroom and the size of the space is frustrating. The apartment does have a washer/dryer in unit, which is not common, but it is an all-in-one and takes hours to go through one load of clothes. You often have to run the drying cycle multiple times depending on what is being washed. I have personally found towels to be very challenging and have just started laying them out to dry throughout the apartment. The bathroom also has its challenges. The toilet does not flush very well and to get it to do much of anything you have to stand there and hold the handle. Another issue is that the temperature of the water in the shower does not stay warm. My final issue is that the bedrooms get really cold. If you have your bedroom door closed during the day and open it at night you will feel an immediate draft and change in temperature. This has not been pleasant, especially during the winter. I suspect that it is an issue with the insulation.

Columbia Pike Reviews

Alcova heights, sort of suburban very quiet and very safe but walking distance to stores and restaurants.
Nice and diverse neighborhood. Up and coming. Safe and convenient. Lots of options for food and drinks. Close proximity to DC and Tyson's Corner. Lots of new construction.
I love Columbia pike. It is affordable to live here.
Close to many grocery stores, convenient stores and many restaurants. Very quick to Pentagon City metro station or Clareden metro station
The neighborhood is very family friendly. I can walk, bike, or bus easily to the metro/Pentagon City mall or bus/bike to the law school. Walking distance to fair assortment of restaurants, grocery store, pharmacy, etc. on Columbia Pike. Neighborhood is dotted with parks, tennis courts, short bike path, and other recreation.
Absolutely lovely place to live. Lots of food options in a highly diverse neighborhood.
Been built up a lot in the last few years with a Harris Teeter in walking distance. Lots of metro bus lines right outside the door with a shuttle to the metro
More working class up and down the pike, no bars or anything of that sort. But close enough to Ballston and Shirlington.
