Great value, low on amenities

Nice affordable place to live in Dupont. The building itself is pretty small (~15 units), but management is very friendly and the location can't be beat.

Sunny Studio in Dupont

My studio is about 500 sq ft with the living space separated from the kitchen and bathroom, and I've loved it. I think for $1450/mo, it is a much more worthwhile situation than I had when I paid $1100/mo to live in an old 3BR/1BA house in Glover Park with a stingy landlady who was in denial that her house was a piece of trash. Not only is the location great (only 2 blocks away from Dupont Circle), there's plenty to do around the neighborhood, and getting to school with the GUTS bus is pretty convenient (20-25 min).
While the building itself doesn't have many amenities aside from 2 washer/dryer units, I'm totally fine with that, since it's a small 15-unit building. The building is managed by a small company, which I like, because I've noticed during my apartment hunt that the big management companies that manage the large complexes are much more expensive for the same or less space and drive up the rent a lot every year.
Another advantage is that the building is pet-friendly (at least for cats) if you have some feline friends. It's not the Ritz-Carlton, but it's purrfect for a student who wants to get a little further away from school for sanity's sake.
