Muse

It's close to everything and you won't get tied up in traffic trying to go everywhere. It also helps that you will live next to one of he best BBQ joints in the state, and that your air will be filled with the smell of delicious smoked meats everyday. The apartments here are decent, VERY secure building, ample parking, and most have a dedicated study. Not a bad place to live.

Close to everything if you know how to get around

The way I explain it to my friends, we're five minutes from everything we need: five minutes from Rice, five minutes from the Texas Medical Center, five minutes from the zoo, five minutes from HEB, five minutes from almost every decent restaurant inside the loop. My particular apartment is a 2/2 plus a dedicated study that acts like a third bedroom. The 13-foot island is a nice touch and I also like the tall doors and concrete floor...a huge plus if you have children. The building is also fairly secure in that you have to have your key to gain access to any floor in the building from the outside, so getting deliveries can be a pain in the ass. The layouts from what I've seen are generally pretty good and the pool area definitely has a resort feel to it. The place is modern enough, and life here isn't so bad. Now if they could get the dogs to start shitting outside...

Decent housing in good location

I like Muse. The neighbors are mindful, there are a lot of students from different schools in the area, and management communicates things well. I have had no real issues and think it is a nice place to live during school. It is very dog friendly, and they do not have pet restrictions for those who might have larger dogs that need some loving as well.

5/5 especially if you are a U of H student

The building is fairly new with great amenities: gym, pool area with BBQ, conference room, and computer lab. Rooms have high ceiling with wood floors in the main room and carpet in the bedrooms. Appliances are new and A/C control is very responsive. Floor layout is very spacious with even the closets being large walk ins. For internet, you can get AT&T high speed fiber.

Management staff are fantastic and extremely helpful. Some kind of community event is always being put on. The Building is well maintained and maintenance issues are resolved very quickly. You can feel safe returning late at night since the property and parking are well lit with secure access with a resident Houston Police officer patrols the complex. Finding a parking spot is not difficult.

Overall, I would give this place a 5/5, especially if you someone who is looking for spacious rooms with new appliances, responsive staff, an active social scene, a well maintained building with nice amenities, and a secure building especially if you return late at night.

About Montrose

Originally imagined as a strictly residential neighborhood, Montrose has morphed into Houston's most eccentric spot with neon-lit tattoo parlors, 24-hour drive-thrus, and covered bungalows. You can get out and enjoy the quirkiness of this neighborhood at popular spots like The Hay Merchant, Stone's ...

Getting around Montrose

Montrose Reviews

Montrose is a great neighborhood for students. It's filled with an eclectic bars and restaurants, is very walkable, and very close to both Rice and Downtown.
Perfect mix of residential and stuff to do. Great restaurants. Walkable.
Fun, young area with lots of local restaurants and bars
If you are a student at U of H , then the commute is about 15 minutes even in moderate traffic. Public transport isn't great, but that's Houston in general. The area is great for a night out with coffee shops, bars, and restaurants nearby. Specifically, the Pit Room and Patio bar are right next tot he complex and great for a quick night out. For a more tame time, the Menil park and art gallery is a 7 minute walk away. If you need to study, the Montrose Branch of the Houston Public Library system is about 7 minutes away. For shopping, a CVS pharmacy is a 5 minute walk and a great HEB grocery store is about a 5 minute drive away. The area is also very safe. One regularly sees police patrols from the nearby University of St. Thomas and Houston Police station. Overall, a great location for a U of H student.
Montrose is a very young and vibrant neighborhood. There are lots of bars and restaurants. It can get a little crowded on weekend nights. It is very centrally located for the city.
Tons of great food. Close to Buffalo Bayou and other great parks. I live within 1 mile of an HEB and Sprouts. Everything is relatively close. Very safe neighborhood.
One of the safest areas in town, but that doesn't mean that it does not have its share of problems.
Inside the loop. Everything you need is 5-10 minute drive.
