Amazing location, spacious apartments, responsive management

See title--while the Gibson admittedly has less amenities than some of the more modern buildings in the neighborhood, the spacious apartments and unbeatable location makes it a great place to live.

Pros:
- Location

- Apts. generally large (most common floor plans usually around 800-1000 sqf). The apts. facing 23rd St. have huge windows and great natural light!

- Almost 24/7 doorman coverage. There are some off-hours but the front desk is usually staffed. Alex in particular is great and has been at the building for a long time!!

- Responsive board/management. In regards to previous negative VeryApt reviews of the management, I believe the management company has since changed. Never had any problems with the current one and they are quite responsive. Condo board is very on top of maintenance and finances.

Cons:
- 80s vibe--feels aesthetically dated, although well maintained.

- Low on amenities--technically there is a common room, roof deck, and patio, but they are a bit dated as well.

- Garage is small and parking spots are quite limited.

- 23rd St. can be quite loud during rush hour.

Nice condo for two

I like renting directly from a condo owner. It is very convenient to be so close to campus and the hospital. Nice front desk attendant and package management.

Decent

This condo complex is generally nice. It is dependent on your property manager as it is a condo. There is not gym or pool. However, the apartments are spacious, great location and the front desk if very nice and helpful.

The best location, lacking amenities

Couldn't be happier with the unit or location. Parking is difficult to come by but I was lucky to rent a spot for $200 per month. The two biggest complaints I have are no pets and virtually no amenities.

Overall a good space

This apartment is generally nice and has good natural light. There is a doorman and package service but no other amenities, like a gym or pool. The management company, NEST, DC can be very unresponsive.

Great location + price

This apartment is a steal for the location. The building has few amenities, but the actual apartment is great. Can't beat the price for 2 bed, 2 bath, washer dryer in unit! The management company has been easy to work with and everything gets fixed when we ask.

West End Reviews

West End is fine. It's safe, there's easy access to transportation and plenty of supermarkets. But it's boring as anything - a neighborhood of hotels and office buildings. It's also overly pricey without really giving you much in return. As someone who had to move to DC on short notice - I picked West End based on location and little else - and I mostly came out of my time living here wishing I had done more research before signing my lease.
Safe neighborhood, great transportation hub with multiple bus stops less than a minute's walk from the apartment and a 5 minute walk to the metro. Some restaurants and bars nearby as well. Ten minute (at most!) walk to GW campus! My only gripe is that it's an expensive neighborhood but the apartment is competitively priced for the area.
The neighborhood is perfect. Ten minute walk to school, five minute walk to the metro. CVS and Walgreens just ten minutes away, trader joes just 3 minutes away, Whole Foods ten minutes away. There is a bus stop with a bunch of bus routes directly in front of the building. This neighborhood is also close to a bunch of other great neighborhoods, just a 20 minute walk to DuPont Circle and Georgetown where there are restaurants, bars, and stores. The monuments (the Lincoln) are only a 25 minute walk down 23rd street. There are numerous gyms nearby and the school gym is only a ten minute walk from the apartment. The area is probably the safest in the city and there is not a lot of noise over the normal city noise. It is next to the GW Hospital so ambulances going by can be annoying but not overly so. This neighborhood is great and close to every amenity.
I like the west end library and the l Trader Joe’s but other than that it is a little quiet and mostly filled with hotels. There aren’t very many food options either. It’s a close walk to Georgetown which is nice.
This neighborhood has everything a millennial needs - a CVS, Soulcycle, Sweetgreen, and great bars/restaurants. Highly recommend because it's quiet and really close to DuPont Circle and the GW Metro.
ONE BLOCK FROM TRADER JOES!! 5 min to Georgetown, 10 min to Dupont, 8 minute bike ride to campus. Bars & restaurants. Across the street from the dog park.
Hard to beat the Foggy Bottom area. Safe and close to everything you would need to be productive and have a great med school experience.
Some of the neighbors are great. It gets pretty dead very early here. There have been a few instances of intruders in the building.
