Life at Melrose Heights
It’s a quiet condo building with fair prices and no disturbances of any kind thus far. My only qualm is the 10 minutes of commute can be annoying on days when my schedule is particularly crammed.

A Good Cheaper Option
Gated community with typical amenities - common area, pool, and basic gym. Very quiet, large closets. Good temperature control. 15 minute drive to campus. Good international food options around. I would describe the neighborhood as safe, diverse, working class.

Safe and affordable, surrounding area is not the best
The complex itself is very nice and gated. The walls are thick enough that I never hear my neighbors, and pets are allowed. I personally keep a cat. I’ve noticed that there is not very much grass on the property, but other people seem to make it work with their dogs. There is a nice dog park nearby that is a 5 minute drive. The biggest downside to this complex is the surrounding area. It is not walkable, and there’s not much to do besides a couple of good restaurants. I think that’s the trade off for the affordable price, and I consider it a good investment overall. It includes a pool, a nice community area, and a workout room. There is a small children’s park right outside the gate.

Hidden gem
I own, but I know that many of the units are rented as well. This complex is behind Casa Azafran, a preschool and immigration resource center. It is very quiet and is filled with a mix of students, young professionals, and retirees. It is very dog friendly. They recently put in a small park next door, and if I open my windows I can faintly hear children playing outside. Behind the complex is a small industrial area that is never noisy and a neighborhood full of small single-family homes. I like to walk around on the streets behind the complex. There aren't many sidewalks but vehicle traffic is light. It is convenient to 440 and there is a bus stop right in front of Casa Azafran. The gym and pool areas are always clean.
