Artist Village

The building is a rent-controlled property so everyone in the building needs to make below a certain income to live here. Overall, I'm happy here and will likely be living here for the remainder of my 2+ years at PSOM.

Pros:

-Building is made of concrete so generally, very quiet. I do not hear my neighbors, which is a LUXURY in the city.

-Very affordable. My roommate and I share a 3-bed place so we each have our own bedroom + an office and only pay $711 each.

-Very spacious with large windows and a lot of light. Great views from the 5th floor.

-Neighbors are wonderful.

-Great neighborhood.

-We had some trouble with maintenance at first, but then it got way better. They respond to calls within 24 hours usually. I think they were understaffed over the summer.

Cons:

-It's an old building. There are bugs, and we have seen a mouse. Cockroach traps have worked great, and we haven't seen any since the first day. Just put out my first mousetrap... we'll see lol. It's definitely the biggest downside to the apartment.

-When we arrived, the unit didn't seem to have been cleaned. We cleaned the place and sent pictures of everything to management and let them know that we would leave the property in the same state we found it in.

-There were also some things that were broken when we first moved in (holes in window screens, towel rack in bathroom). Took a while at first, but things have been repaired.

-Not universal to the building, just my floor, but my neighbor down the hall smokes a lot. We've learned to keep the smoke out of our apartment by pointing a fan towards the door.

its cute

Good spot, right next to south. Cute place, floor plan setup is a lil strange but we make it work. We have plumbing and we've contacted the super for months and she says maintenance will come but they have not yet, so terrible communication and management. Great place though I genuinely do like it.
