Osgoode Chambers
My apartment lacks direct sunlight as it's a ground-level unit. It tends to get quite cold in the winter, and the heating system doesn't have an automatic shutoff once it reaches a set temperature, so I need to manually turn it off. However, any maintenance issues are promptly attended to. The repairman is exceptionally skilled and ensures that everything functions smoothly, going above and beyond to address any concerns, which I greatly appreciate. The rent price is unbeatable in Toronto right now. If you have any safety concerns walking to your apartment at night, York offers GOSAFE, which has students that will accompany you around campus to where you need to go.

Everything is very dated but it is better than nothing
Everything is old and you will likely need to call maintenance at least 3 times during a year of staying there. But it is relatively decently priced and super close to Osgoode if you are a law student.

Fairly Cheap Place to Live
Very close to Osgoode hall law School. My only criticism is that maintenance requests take months to complete!

Passy Crescent
Pros: It is a great price and is incredibly convenient. It is also very quiet and peaceful.
Cons: It was quite dirty when I first moved in.

It’s pretty good
Overall, the apartment itself is pretty good. It’s a pretty good apartment in comparison to the rent I pay. This being said, I have two complaints, which is the fact that maintenance did not get back to a request I put in months ago. Also, my apartment is on the lower level, and so, the footsteps of people walking upstairs is quite loud.

Decent
Do not expect maintenance to be swift. The furniture is old and cannot be removed. Heating and cooling are central and usually a few weeks too late when switching between the two.

Not bad for on campus
All units have at least one big window and it lets some light in, but you'll definitely have to bring lamps of your own to brighten the place.
Laundry machines are shared between the buildings and you have to pay for them, but I am grateful they are on site.
I can't speak to parking near the buildings but my general impression has been a bad one.
There are no elevators and I live on the fourth floor, which is a bit annoying but I like my view and am capable of climbing the stairs multiple times daily. Would not recommend for someone who cannot do that.
You may experience a few maintenance issues and they are slow to respond unless it is an emergency, but thankfully I haven't had many problems in months.
In years prior, they had a lot of unnecessary fire alarms but I think that is mostly over now.
Probably the most frustrating thing for me about living here is that it can be difficult to regulate the temperature of the units. The thermostat is very finnicky, but more than that, the apartment managers have two settings for the year, heating and cooling, and they always wait too long to change it. So for example, they set the system for cooling much later than they should at the end of spring and everyone is already melting, or they change the system to heating much later than they should in the start of fall and everyone is freezing. They only do the change once so I can almost understand it, but it is a terrible system.
That said, I can confidently say there are significantly less problems in the Passy/Osgoode Chambers units than in the Assiniboine units. Less to no pests, less awful/disrespectful neighbours, and much less mail theft from the common mailroom.
Thin walls but I find there are not a lot of loud people in my section of the building.
Would definitely overall recommend for a single student looking to have their own place while studying at Osgoode for the school year.
Just enough storage for one person, I think.

Osgoode Chambers
It’s not the nicest place you’ll ever live in, but it gets the job done. Location is super convenient, overall pretty clean, quiet, and has everything you need.

It’s okay
There are many downsides to living at Passy including:
- the heating and cooling system can’t be adjusted very well in each unit
- the carpet is dirty and old I wish there was hardwood instead as it makes the unit extremely dusty no matter how much it is vacuumed.
- Aesthetically the units are not pleasant to look at especially with the piping being visible on the ceiling and the old fire alarm.
-the furniture is old, rickety. And falling apart
- the amenities need constant upkeep, I’ve had to call maintenance 3 times to first fix my water heating, fix a broken cabinet, and fix a leaking toilet.
- there is no crosswalk in front of osgoode chambers that leads to osgoode, students jay walk every day.
For the amount of rent paid every month there are a lot of cons to living at Passy. One of the biggest pros is truly how conveniently close it is to campus.
