Nice Building, a little old

My apartment is pretty nice. The floors are all wood with tile in the bathroom. My boyfriend and I moved in there in August, and it stays cool throughout the year, which suits us well. My only negative is that because the building is old, sometimes there are more maintenance issues. And the maintenance in this building is not great

Great apartment, but terrible management

The apartments in the building are huge so the rent is a good value compared to the space. However, the management is incredibly unresponsive and it takes several calls and much cajoling to get things taken care of. We have had leaky furnaces and stagnant water in the laundry room, and it has taken weeks to have someone come in to deal with these problems. It took 4 months just to have someone put cranks on our windows so that we could open them.

Getting around Capitol Hill

Capitol Hill Reviews

15 reviews
Love the neighborhood. Very safe and residential. Easy access to campus (~30 commute). Not as close to restaurants, other attractions.
Quiet but very nice. Lots of young families. Decent restaurant selection. Not a lot of nightlife (besides 8th St SE which is a slightly older crowd). Generally go to U St / Dupont Circle / Adams Morgan area to go to bars, 20 to 30 minute uber (3-4 slow city miles). Decent metro access (silver, orange, blue, and red) and access to Union Station (Amtrak and buses). Close to National Mall and somewhat close to Nationals Park for baseball games. Commute to McLean HQ building is a 45 minute metro ride from Capitol South on the Silver Line. Driving w/ minimal traffic is 25 mins to office. Driving w/ bad traffic (usually in afternoons) is 1 hour.
It's an excellent, safe neighborhood with plenty of families. While it's not the most exciting neighborhood in the city, it's within walking distance of plenty of bars and restaurants.
A great neighborhood right in the heart of Capitol Hill. Not much night life or young crowds but incredibly charming and great for dining out or brunch.
This a wonderful neighborhood... close to downtown, great restaurants and bars, and also quiet and residential.
Far from school and people who live NW, but gorgeous area, lots of restaurants and bars and young people, right by the Capitol, Library of Congress, and Supreme Court.
Nice calm neighborhood with great restaurants. Break from foggy bottom/student life
The neighborhood is adorable and the neighbors were all very kind.
