Commonwealth Apartments
Cheap and close to the hospital. Chestnut Street can get very loud at night though + no amenities (parking, gym, lounge, etc). There is a 24/7 doorman however so quite secure.

the good, the bad, the mediocre
Love the location - it's in the center of literally everything! Of course, this means it's often loud. There was constructuon going on for months right across the street and sometimes the jackhammers would be going off from 10:00 pm til 2:00 am. You will hear crackheads scream on any day of the night, and from Thursday-Saturday, you will definitely hear loud music till 2-3 am. Management is questionable. We lost electricity for over 24 hours and they took so long to respond. Additionally, my toilet stopped working Friday night. I was worried it would overflow - front desk said, no maintenance till Monday. Front desk didn't even know the emergency maintenance number. Reached out to management and their number was out of service, and when I did contact them finally, they were no help. Ultimately very unresponsive but there is new management in place very recently. People are generally quiet and respectful in this building. Not sure about safety since front desk doesn't really verify much and you can just lie and walk in. Amenities are whack. You pay$350 each time for a terrible gym - which has been shut down for a year now. No other "amenities." All this being said, I love the location and I love my space.

Not re-signing, but...
I don't know, you get what you pay for. Please be advised the new management does the bare minimum for keeping building up to standard until it's dire. It's little things, like the front door is defective as it is a loud slam (just pay someone to fix it) and a piece of metal fell down from the elevator. I felt weird in the elevators for months and then they closed two out of the three at once - creating traffic. There is also homeless people sleeping outside the entrance all the time and access attendants rarely pay attention to what's going and are always on the phone. One of the overnight attended regularly falls asleep...so doesn't make me feel that great.
All in all, it's a a great location, dog-friendly, and the modern finishes are nice. It takes me 15 minutes to get to class.

Great value for Jefferson residents!
I loved my apartment unit. I was on the 10th floor in a unit facing another building, so it was completely quiet (I missed out on a day-long music festival happening on my street because I couldn't hear it), making for great sleep! My unit was full of light, had modern appliances, was clean, and was in good repair. Maintenance was very friendly and responsive.
This building is a block from Jefferson, making a very quick and convenient commute. It is also very close to bars and restaurants, however, if you get a unit in the back of the building and sharing a wall with the building next door you will not hear any of the noise from the surrounding businesses/nightlife!
The major downside of this building is lack of amenities (the "gym" comprises of a few pieces of equipment in a stuffy basement room, the rooftop I was told they were going to build was still in progress a year after they said it would be finished, no common lounges for guests/events). There are also often people loitering in front of the 7-11 next to the building, however, there is someone at the front desk of the building most of the time.
Overall, aside from the lack of amenities this is a fantastic building for Jefferson residents! I would recommend getting an apartment on the side of the building shared by the building next door (I don't know the noise situation on the side of the building facing 12th street, and there is a lot of construction happening on that side). I would also recommend getting a unit on a higher floor for less noise and more sunlight.

Easy Peasy
This apartment is pretty great. I have three roommates, there are four of us total making rent, utilities, and groceries pretty affordable. The whole process of moving in was easy and smooth moving. I haven’t had any major problems, and anything that I do have a problem with can be fixed with a trip to the leasing office in the second floor. It’s also a pretty commute to the school.

Well Kept Apartment
The Comminwealth is located in a great neighborhood with a booming social life. Close to Readin Terminal Market and the newly built Target. Management is I believe better than average and the security officers extremely courteous. The 1 bedroom which I reside in is more than spacious enough for my needs. While the kitchen is modern, it lacks counter space which can be problematic.

Midtown Village Reviews
The area is filled with lots of young people. I don't feel unsafe walking around even at night because there are people out all the time. There are a couple of narrow streets I probably wouldn't walk through though.
