Perfect location

This is a perfect location for AU students. It’s directly next to the metro and the station is on the red line so it goes directly to the Tenleytown/AU stop (about 4 stops away) in about 25 minutes. Driving wise it’s a straight shot to campus and again only takes about 25 minutes. The area is pretty quiet. Staff at the apartment are great! They are always well informed and helpful when needed! There’s a private parking garage and the building is very secure. Overall, I’ve loved living at Avalon at Grosvenor Station.

Great Location

Like most apt buildings -
Pros:
-location
-metro access
-gym
-outdoor pool
-maintenance does respond the next day

Cons:
-Walls are thin and you can hear your neighbor above/below you and on both sides
-Nobody picks up their dog poop despite there being tons of free bags and locations to drop poop off
-Garage doors are always broken (cars have been broken into)
-People drive extremely fast in the garage
-Lots of lease office turnover
-Lifeguards during summer take extremely long breaks

Avalon

It's been a good place to live. Location is convenient - close to the metro and the beltway and whole foods. When things break repairs are completed very quickly. Lots of turnover in the front office. Love the gym and use it every day. Lots of people with pets, so it must be pet friendly. Although there isn't lots of space for dogs to run around or anything.

Convenient Location, OK Building, Poor Management

You can't beat living 2 blocks from the metro which still having a reasonably priced parking spot. The building is just OK though. All units have crown molding and washers and dryers which is a plus, but the walls are thin so you can easily hear your neighbors. The management has improved over the last few years, but overall they remain pretty inflexible.

Great value on Metro

This apartment provides value for its location, would recommend. Although you'll need to be comfortable metroing with groceries or having a car, as it is in the suburbs--not much in walking distance. Pool, gym, grills all provided for free. Parking is $55/month.

Nice place in the burbs

It's a great location for metro convenience, but a car is necessary. I love the place, filled with huge windows and lots of space for the size. It has a closed parking garage but quite often the doors are left wide open for anybody to come and go as they please. Overall I love the apartment itself - clean, quiet, and beautiful, but am left feeling that the management should be more on top of safety.

Great location for young professionals

Extremely convenient if you work on the red line – this building (and the Meridian at Grosvenor Station next door) are directly adjacent to the Grosvenor-Strathmore station on the red line, as well as all of the Montgomery County buses that serve the area. There is a well-stocked, upscale wine and convenience store in a neighboring building, and there is quick access via a jogging trail to Beach Drive and Rock Creek Park – it's possible to jog or bike all the way down to Georgetown via the Beach Drive and Rock Creek Parkway jogging trails. The pool is great (and there's a children's pool as well), and there are several gas grills on site. Parking is spacious.

Getting around North Bethesda

North Bethesda Reviews

8 reviews
Extremely convenient neighborhood if you work on the red line! It's a stone's throw away from Montgomery Mall and all of the restaurants and shopping available in Bethesda. Very low crime, and there is generally a police car parked in the area for peace of mind.
The North Bethesda area is nice. Pike and Rose, which already has some good places to eat, is growing and will hopefully add more restaurants. Within the area, there's a whole foods and Trader Joe's.
Not very many younger people live here. However, it’s between Rockville and Bethesda, so in either direction you can find nightlife or other activities if you want. The area is relatively quiet. As a single woman, I feel very safe and secure in this area.
The walkability is great here. We think that there is stuff to do from shopping to dining. There are stores and shops that are close to each other, so you can always make it a good night! We don't really think that the White Flint Metro is the safest place, so that kind of turns us off about the area. There are other parts of Bethesda that are way nicer.
Pike and Rose is the best! We are walking distance from white flint metro, surrounded by bars, restaurants, grocery stores, shopping... everything you could possibly want. All the convenience of DC but without the exorbitant price tag and congested traffic.
It is a family friendly neighborhood. Everyone is super nice and it is not nosy
this area has experienced significant development in the past couple of years. Plenty more restaurants and shopping areas than in the past! There is little nightlife, but it is becoming a much more exciting area than it used to be.
Pros:
-Close to 495, 270, and many grocery stores
-Close to Rock Creek Park
-Never felt unsafe walking around

Cons:
-Metro is close so there is some noise
-People are inconsiderate of their dog poop
