Juliet's Review

This apartment is in a great part of town with lots of space, a great gym, nice pool, grills, and lots of parking. Best part is proximity to the Bayou, Wrong Iron, the Lafitte Greenway, and City Park.

Modern, nice, comfortable apt

Me and my partner (and now our dog) have lived her for 3.5 months. The apartment is very nice, with the complex having a good gym (weights, cardio machines), pool, grills, package acceptance making it easy to know when you get a package and easy to retrieve. Apartment is spacious and has a cool post-industrial vibe (this used to be a warehouse). Tall ceilings and windows (lots of natural light), great location with lots of greenspace close by, bars, restaurants, and easy access to highway and medical district downtown. Modern appliances in the apartment. Washer and dryer in unit. Great showers. Comes with cable and internet which is nice! Still have to pay electric and water, though. Quiet community. I feel safe here. Only thing is some people's cars got broken into in public (non-paid) parking, which there is a lot of right outside apartment complex. I have heard these break-ins happen every few months, so it may be advantageous to pay for parking with the complex even though it's expensive and there is a wait list most of the time. Management is okay. Not bad, not great. Maintenance is great, problems are fixed quickly and staff is extremely kind.

Good but expensive

My experience with American Can has been decent! It was a great first place to live. The area of Mid City is awesome and has tons of green space. My only two complaints are water temperature being inconsistent and my rent being way more expensive than what most of my friends pay.

American Can

The building is located in Mid City, within walking distance to lots of things (bars, restaurants, City Park, Bayou St. John). I am able to bike to and from campus with no issues, and there is a bike path/walking trail that will take you almost all the way downtown.

The rent is a little pricy, but you are paying for the security of living in an apartment building rather than a stand alone house. There are courtesy officers available 24/7. The apartments are all different, since the building is a renovated factory, so some are nicer than others. I have not experienced any pest issues, which is great.

The front desk staff is friendly and helpful, there is a secure package locker, and various parking options for those that own a car. The utilities are cheaper than what I experienced living in a duplex and you don't have to deal with the water and sewerage board, which is a huge bonus. Also, cable and internet are included, there is a small gym on site, and a pool!

Overall, a clean building with responsive staff. All my repair requests have been fulfilled within a couple of business days. Pets are allowed, but there is pet rent and a deposit required.

Some cons: I can hear my neighbors, it's an old building
