Loved It!
I enjoyed my experience at Campus Crossings on Highland Road. I was there for 2 years and I loved it. I would 100% go back! It was very quiet. Maintenace and management were awesome. Maintenance responded to issues in around 2 days, they were really quick and attentive. Management folks were super cool as well. Parking was a one time $25 fee. The community was gated. There was parking available outside the gate. My one bed/one bath was spacious and full of sunlight. If I ever had issues with anything, maintenance was quick, and they solved the issue. Campus Crossings did hold some events here and there. There is a community area with hammocks, games, a net, and grills and seating. Of course they also had a pool. Inside the clubhouse was a gym, lounge area, computers/printers. It is close to LSU, so I walked to class. It was about a 10-12-minute walk to the life sciences building.

It is what it is
This place looked like it thrived in the 1990s. It has everything you would need, but don’t expect too much.
Pros: walk to class, furnished, the pool is decent now, free printing, pet friendly, Amazon hub for packages.
Cons: internet iffy (was out all last night for class registration), dated, trash area always seems to have overflowing trash, my shower has a PVC pipe that drips water from the above unit into my tub.

Campus Crossings Highland: Bit pricey, but GREAT location
I really enjoy where I live. I don't eat at the restaurants close by, but I love how close I am to campus, the lakes, and the UREC. I always walk and only use my car when getting groceries or driving across town.
I also feel safe where I live. It may be close to a rougher side of town, but it is still close enough to campus and the lakes to be safe.

nice place to live
I feel safe here. The property is relatively clean. It's a gated complex. It also has Amazon Hub (package locker) so no worries about receiving the package. We never lost power during hurricanes. No flooding issue. Within walking distance to LSU campus. The on-demand bus goes near the complex (fire station)
During the moving-in season(August), the maintenance is super late.
The place is also building a pet playground.

Horrible
I have had a horrible time at this apartment complex. I have lived here for 5 years only out of convenience of walking to school and owning a pet. The biggest issue is that the internet is HORRIBLE!! It never connects and constantly goes out which is hard for being in grad school. This has been a constant issue over the last 5 years and hasn’t gotten any better. I had so many maintenance issues and the front office never cares, they take forever to fix even if it’s mold or water leaks. The front staff is rude and often loses my packages. The dumpster is always full and they occasionally try to fine you for leaving trash outside of it even if it’s been full for days. Overall a horrible experience

Decent apartment living
Campus Crossings on Highland is a standard college apartment complex - nothing amazing, but does the job. I think the rent is reasonable to have your own room and bathroom (around $590 a month). You sign by the bedroom which is nice since the lease is solely your name. Highland Rd isn't the greatest location, but it is close to campus which is convenient. Management is helpful enough and has always been pleasant. For the most part, has seemed pretty well sound-proofed as well, which is nice for me as I have to practice an instrument regularly!

Review
The apartment is within walking distance of LSU amd close fo a CVS and different food options. It is quiet which is good for graduate students! The complex is gated and safe, but I would still recommend walking home with pepperspray at night, especially as a woman since some robberies have happened in the area. The maintenance staff is super helpful as well as the entire office of the complex! Repairs are done pretty swiftly and if they need more time they offer a time window.

Good, not excellent.
The management is good here. We have had some trouble with some maintence issues; however, they came after hours to fix the issues quickly.
The safety here is not great. There are homeless people near the complex all the time; some are nice, some are mean. Do not travel alone if you feel too vulnerable. My roommates bike was stolen in the complex as well. It was reported and there was no follow up. When I initially called the complex, I signed on the pre-tense that this complex was safe and there were no theifs around the area. I checked the criminal history around the area and that was farther from the truth.
In conclusion, its not that bad of a complex. The price reflects the safety, the management is good, and it's walking distance to the law school and Chimes. I'm leaning on renewing my lease just for the mere fact that it's so close to Chimes.

Don't let the affordable rent fool you
I saw a law review on this complex saying not to live here and I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED. I took one positive review and used it to rule out the many many bad ones I read. Thats on me. Overall, it's been tolerable. This is a GATED complex with a live in police officer. However, my car has been broken into and my bike was stolen. Which I think could speak for itself. (the bike was locked with a heavy duty lock). The gates are often broken and people follow other cars into the complex. I get calls at all times of day and night from the gate because people are trying to get in. Its also LOUD pretty often. I did love how close it was to food and CVS and that it was super close to the law center (and so affordable). But I would not recommend anyone live here.
