Awesome apartment

My wife and I are renting in a Co-op directly from the owners of the unit. As one of the few renters in the building, we're treated with the same respect as everyone else and enjoy the building. The doormen are extremely friendly and the building's best asset, in addition to the laundry in the basement.
The one downside is the elevator. It's manually operated by the doorman and goes out every once in a while, but the building is currently renovating it to put in real elevators. The location on the Upper West Side is family friendly. It is not the same party life as living near NYU in the village but it's a great area. At $3,000 monthly for 825 square feet, I'm getting a bargain compared to what my friends in similar units pay. I would guess this is due to the owners of the unit not being too interested in the investment value of the property, they were just trying to fill it after moving out. I would imagine they could get $3,500 on the open market now.
