Small complex, on bus route
The apartment complex is comprised of only a few buildings, and there is adequate parking, so it is easy for visitors to find your apartment and have a place to park. The residents tend to be lower-income families or couples, so there is a lack of overly-loud gatherings and undergraduates. The neighborhood at large is likely not the safest area in Lawrence, but the complex & parking lot is well lit and fairly safe.
The complex is directly on a bus route and across the road from a trailer park; there is a grade school, a fire station, the fairgrounds, the humane society, a couple gas stations, and a small strip mall within walking distance.
The management office is located across town, which can be difficult if you need to interact personally with them, but also means that they rarely interfere unless complaints are sent in.
There are different styles of apartment within the complex, but the one I share with my roommate was optimal for us because it had two equally sized bedrooms. The bathroom is spacious, and the in-unit washer/dryer is fantastic, but the kitchen is on the smaller side, and there is limited storage space. Many residents own pets; there is a pet deposit, and a monthly dog rent, but cats do not have monthly rent.

Affordable w/ in-unit laundry and good parking
I am satisfied with my apartment. The parking lot is close to the units and well lit, and there is no extra charge for having two cars. The floor plan for my unit has two equally sized rooms each with a small walk-in closet which works well for me and my roommate, as well as a nicely sized bathroom. The kitchen could stand to have more space, but it is functional. There is an in-unit washer and dryer. The living room tends to be warmer than the bedrooms. There is no monthly pet rent for our cat, though there is a pet deposit. Our neighbors are mostly families and older people. They are friendly, not too loud, and stay to themselves. It is not a very convenient location if you do not have a car. It is right on the bus route and you can walk places, but both options will likely take 30min-1hr to get to the main areas of town.

Affordable and Simple
Apartment is in a small complex on the South West part of town. Has good parking for residents and visitors. Walk from car to apartment is short and well lit. Management is flexible and easy to talk to. Apartment is not fancy, but it is clean, nice, and suits the needs of myself, my roommate, and our cat. It comes with a dishwasher, in-unit washer/dryer, microwave, full-size stove, shower/bath, walk-in bedroom closets, and a fireplace. I've lived here for almost a year and have not felt unsafe at any point during that time. Only complaints so far is during the winter, the bedrooms get a bit cold, and it is a bit inconvenient living on the edge of town, but can get to most places in town in 10-15 minutes, and it is near the bus route.

Good value
Lived here two years. It's a pretty basic apartment complex but I have liked it here. No gym or pool but the apartments are a nice quality and reasonably priced. Close to K10 for an easy commute to KC. A fair amount of young kids live in the complex so it can be loud outside when the weather is nice. I would say that a 1 bed 1 bath apartment here is not big enough for two people so if you're planning to move with a partner this may not be the place for you.
