Great apt but very expensive.

This apt has great lighting, good space, and is pet friendly. The staff is all really friendly and the gym is good. However, they tried to increase our rent by $400 in 2022 and we had to haggle down the increase. This is without parking included. Parking is an extra 200 at a lot 5 minutes away, because the garage under the building (300$/mo) has been full for a while. Maintenance requests are done on time and the building does not have pest or mold problems. Also being on the corner of South and Broad, the noise and music from cars, ATVs, bikes, and party groups is very bothersome at night and takes getting used to. A baby, puppy, or light sleeper might have a hard time.

Great building, horrible management

The units are beautiful, with large windows and great soundproofing. The management, which changed to AIMCO about 2 years ago, is about as bad as it can get. I had a water spot appear on my ceiling that kept getting larger, and filed a couple maintenance requests. They didn't do anything about it until water was actively dripping and I had to call emergency maintenance. They blamed me for not doing anything sooner, and I had to pull up all the paper proof that I had indeed requested maintenance in the weeks before. My blinds also broke and they promised to repair them...for almost a year! Every other week I check in, and they always say by the end of next week. Actually ridiculous. Also the gym is very dirty and poorly maintained, and residents have stolen free weights from it to keep during the pandemic and management doesn't care.

Love this apartment

This apartment is great! It's a little pricey, but I feel like you get what you pay for. My priorities included proximity to Center City, parking available (at an extra cost), lots of sunlight, and security. It really does all these well, so even though it's a little pricier, for me it's worth it!

For Professionals

The building is located on busy Broad Street, however it is as quiet as a church inside. Residents are young professionals and the units are built with solid concrete walls separating each from the other to further reduce noise. Pets are welcome and the building services include a wonderful concierge staff as well as innovative package delivery through LuxerOne and pick up dry cleaning. I'd recommend this to anyone who is looking for a more private experience than the typical Rittenhouse buildings.

Southstar Lofts

Southstar Lofts is an amazing apartment community. The apartments themselves are essentially brand new, open and more space that typically offered in CC. The staff is awesome all around and are very attentive to any needs. Having Big Gay Ice Cream , Kosmos Pizza and a new diner coming soon is all just a bonus.

Full Featured Apartment in Great Location

There's really nothing bad to say about SouthStar. The building is gorgeous, LEED certified, and very well maintained. The staff is friendly and courteous. There's a concierge person 24/7 who lets your visitors up and accepts your packages. Full gym with nice cardio equipment, free weights, and a weight machine.

The apartment itself is really well laid out, with a door to my one bathroom from both the bedroom and the hallway, which is perfect for when I have guests. I love the southern exposure I have, which provides a ton of sunlight. Even though my window faces South St, I very rarely get too much noise.

The apartment is very well finished, with granite counter tops, gorgeous bamboo hardwood flooring throughout the main living room, and a few good sized closets. There's also a storage unit down the hall, which holds all of my seasonal decorations, camping supplies, and random boxes. I have a washer/dryer in-unit and there are a few community washer/dryers for use in the building as well.

The only downside is that I don't have any outdoor space. Some units in the building have a balcony, but very few.

I love this neighborhood! It's great for walking around, exploring the brick, tree-lined streets, and picking up a coffee or snack nearby. You are walking distance to dozens of bars and restaurants, including 13th St as well as South St. Within 20 minutes, you can walk to the quiet charming Queen Village neighborhood or the bustling Rittenhouse area and the shopping district. Even though it's close to Center City, you still get a calm, neighborhood feel.
Love South Street! Center City is accessible if you want it, but you're also pretty close to South Philly and the Italian Market.
Amazing neighborhood! Close to Center City and tons of bars and restaurants. A little far from campus - around 40 minute walk.
This is the ideal area to live if you're going to Jefferson. Anywhere in Washington Square West will put you around a 5 minute walk to campus. It's incredibly safe and I love that everyone around you is a Jefferson employee. There's tons of bars and restaurants in the area, all within walking distance.
The building is situated between Pennsylvania Hospital and Jefferson so it is a relatively safe and clean neighborhood. This does mean there are occasional ambulances or helicopters going by, but generally it isn’t too noisy. The subway and grocery stores (Acme or Whole Foods) are about half a mile away, but the walk is pleasant.
Midtown village is a wonderful neighborhood. There are many restaurants, shops, bars, lounges all within walking distance. Public transportation is abundant and always on time, too. People here are generally friendly and the streets don't get too crowded as it does closer to Center City West. Everything you need is in this neighborhood!
I really enjoy this area. It's very close to lots of bars and restaurants, but not noisy at all. I used to live in Rittenhouse which is extremely nice but very loud and I often was kept up at night by cars honking and construction. The area now is extremely quiet at night. It's very safe and I feel fine walking by myself at night. It is close to reading terminal plus the grocery stores on south street. I like the proximity to the park as well!
We love living in this neighborhood! It feels safe to walk in at night alone and we live two blocks from Independence Hall! With the new Fashion District under construction, it can get a little noisy at night with the construction.
