Value-for-money apartments near UCSD campus

Close to the UCSD campus, public transit, Vons, and public parks. These are old apartments with common laundry and frequent water shutdowns. But very few apartments are as cheap. Good ventilation and sunlight.

Convenient Location

The location is convenient, and I'm currently getting a good deal on rent. However, the plumbing in the complex is very old and has frequent issues. Pernicano Realty is also terrible. Still, I've chosen to keep living here because I think the pros outweigh the cons.

Pretty happy despite some annoyances

I’m pretty happy with my living situation given the convenient location and affordable rent. There are some inconveniences though. The apartment gets very cold in the winter. Although the apartment does have hearing, it’s old and inefficient, so we use space heaters. The plumbing in this complex is old and constantly needing repairs, so once a month or so the water to our building will be shut off for several hours.

Worth it for location and price

The cons:
- At least once a month, the water gets shut off for several hours for people to come do repairs. This is super annoying, particularly during a pandemic.
- No bike rack.
- Occasional wifi issues. I hear that AT&T fiber & Cox are the best internet providers in San Diego, but they are not available at my apartment.
- Heating is so expensive and inefficient that it's not worth turning on; we just have to bundle up in the winter.

The pros:
- Convenient location extremely close to campus.
- Relatively affordable rent compared with other apartments in the area.
- Decent size.
- Skylights provide a lot of natural light.

Overall, I've really enjoyed living here.
