Lots of storage, updated/Maintenance Nightmare
I love that I have a new, updated kitchen and a washer/dryer in unit. There is a ton of storage space. Pet-friendly, with no breed or weight restrictions. It’s also really conveniently located - only a 15 minute drive from campus and 5 minutes from the I-95 entrances.
The biggest downside is that it’s an older building and is freezing during the winter. There is plenty of parking, except on weekends. Maintenance is not prompt and you need to hound the office for them to fix anything.
Lease renewal was a nightmare. The property manager told me not to worry about a rent increase and that since I was only there for one year I wouldn’t get charged an increase. When I got the renewal notice, the rent was increased 10% and the student discount disappeared. I was told to write a letter to corporate requesting what I wanted. I waited a couple weeks and finally received a response that my request for no increase and the student discount was denied. It was too late to find another apartment before the renewal was due, so I signed on for another year. Additionally, I was told I would get a 5% discount while I’m a student for the duration of my tenancy while enrolled in school, but then told it was only for one year.
