Best economical family housing

We have loved our time here at Forest Hills. The rent is very affordable, and while there is a buy-in that is necessary, it's definitely saves you money over the four years of medical school. It is located close to bus stops, and has central air included as well as a nice park for kids. The commute to school is it's only drawback, but overall it has been worth it.

Best housing for families on a tight budget

We've only been living at Forest Hills for a few months, but we're loving it already. The coop's upkeep is really nice both inside and out. Our unit got new flooring in the kitchen and bathroom, and a new stove before we moved in. The hard-wood floors looked recently refinished too. The grounds are beautifully maintained with a great play structure for kids. We have also really liked having a basement for storage and laundry. While the initial buy-in (which is recouped when you leave) is fairly substantial, you can't beat the monthly price. The floors are squeaky in places, and we can sometimes hear the neighbors going up and down stairs, but it hasn't really bothered us. It takes me about 35 minutes by bus to get to the Medical School (the co-op is right on the bus line, route 5), or 20 minutes by bike when the weather is good.
