Great Place

Pretty quiet because of the location downtown, and everything is reasonably close (by car). Being downtown, gives great walking access to the downtown area. Pretty secure and the management is very responsive and friendly.

Downtown Columbus

Xander on State is located in downtown Columbus, two blocks east of the state capitol building (I'm looking at it right now) and directly next to Grant Hospital. My partner works at Grant so this was a great location for her, but has been good for me through M3-M4 year as well. Downtown Columbus is pretty nice during the day and this apartment gets a ton of light (if you have a west-facing unit, which we do). We are very close to the main branch of the Columbus library (which is beautiful) and the Scioto mile, which is fantastic for walking and running. We are also walking distance from amazing coffee shops (Roosevelt, Parable, and Brioso). The apartment gym is adequate and it is very pet friendly, with pet rent being an extra charge per month. The Columbus bus system is pretty reliable and there very close routes to both OSU main and OSU east only a few blocks away. I take the bus to campus for rotations all the time and haven't had too many issues (it's free with the BuckID).

Downsides of this apartment: Columbus gets really empty at night, so there actually isn't much going on nearby (except for some breweries and restaurants that are walking distance away). It can also be somewhat unsafe feeling depending on where you are downtown. Living right next to Grant means ambulances and helicopters frequently, but they start to blend into the background pretty quickly. I would recommend an apartment that does not overlook the courtyard, since it gets pretty loud in the summer and unfortunately some tenants don't abide by the quiet hours for the pool. Parking is not included but can be purchased at the apartment or nearby. I park on the street in front of the apartment every day - it is $5 for the entire day and free overnight. It's safe and I haven't had any issues with parking.

Nice but going down hill

When I moved in over a year ago it was great. New office management has taken over and there have been some turns for the worst. A lot of the new residents are trashy and loud. The common areas are often used past their stated hours. The place is nice and it’s cleaned regularly. Lots of amenities including a pool and gym.
