Highly Recommend

I've been living at The Barrett since July and have loved my experience so far. Pros: beautiful neighborhood, good size space, quiet, easy to work with management, responsive maintenance team (never waited more than 24 hours except on weekends), not too far from campus but far enough away that it doesn't feel like a college town, can see myself living here for a few years after graduation. Cons: the power has gone out several times; depending on the unit you get, parking in your garage can be inconvenient; not wheelchair accessible; have seen someone break into a car parked on the street.

Close to Downtown but Quiet

The Barrett apartments are close to Schiller park and German village, both of which are great sleepy areas to relax and walk through.

We chose this location because it is close enough to downtown jobs and Capital Law school that commute times are 5-10 minutes by car and it has access to bus lines for getting downtown without a vehicle.

Overall it is a great apartment if you're looking to sleep well, park easily, and get downtown fast. The area is very safe and comfortable compared to other affordable options close to downtown.

The management does offer social events, but frankly I didn't choose to live here for the bumping party scene, it's a quiet spot.
