I love my apartment

I have a 800sq ft apartment and I love it. I have lived here for two years. It's in a really convenient location with walking distance to the Farmers Market, restaurants and attractions in Deep Ellum, 10 min commute to SMU, 3 min commute to Downtown and a lot of access points to multiple freeways/highways. There's also a DART bus and train pickup less than 10 mins walking distance as well.

Ideal for Grad Students!

Camden is a fine apartment for a grad student. It’s big and has great amenities. There are pros and cons to all apartments and this one sits right even with both. It’s affordable and in a great location, walking distance to Deep Ellum and the Farmers Market. Being around Deep Ellum makes it convenient for many bars. All in all, I personally have been satisfied!

live downtown, live Camden

This is a fantastic place to live if you want to be close to Deep Ellum and downtown. The property is clean, has a gated parking garage, and is close to the dart line!!

Love my apartment…

Love my apartment, it was clean when we moved in with fresh paint and new carpet. Very spacious with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Nice big kitchen as well. Management is my only complaint, they are slow to respond to calls/emails but seem to get the job done if pushed. I do think they need to install a different type of gate to the parking garage, it stays open for a long time and people can just walk through it. Location is great, close to farmers market and deep ellum, but can be a little unsafe at night hence why I want more secure gates. Overall though I have few complaints and for the price and size of this apartment it is great.

Cheap at first until they starting hiking up our rent

Pretty average. Disliked not having easy access to packages and having my bike stolen from my second story balcony. Noisy neighbors walking heavily and have no consideration at odd hours of the day and night. Pet owners are not responsible for picking after their pet.

Great the first year, down hill ever since

I've been a resident for a little over 3 years and we're getting ready to make our big move in less than two months! I had a positive experience the first year as a resident but then they seem to take away huge amenities for their residents, for example accepting our packages which was a huge inconvenience for many of us as the USPS is located downtown and a pain to get in and out of during normal business hours. And things delivered from UPS or FedEx were left at the front door and packages were being stolen. On top of that, hiking rent prices, charging valet waste fees(not making that optional for residents), etc. Noticing lots of crime happening all over the community, our bike was stolen off the 2nd floor balcony! What also annoyed me was they required we upgrade and renovate our apartment or move to another apartment in order to renew our lease. Pros... I enjoyed walking distance to Deep Ellum and to the Dallas Farmers Market. Camden Farmers Market... It's been bitter sweet but it's time we move on.

Camden Farmers Market

Camden Farmers Market is located between the Dallas Farmers market and Deep Ellum. Both hot spots are within walking distance of areas with great food, fun, and art. Though the apartments are located downtown, you still get the feel of a regular apartment complex with ample parking for tenants and guests.

Read this review first!

The apartments may seem like a good deal but the devil is in the details. They recently stopped holding packages at the office for tenants. They claimed it took too much time by the staff to sort and retrieve the packages for the tenants. This is BS. From the looks of some of the staff, they could use the exercise. Plus I rarely saw a flood of prospective new tenants in the front office. The result was a nightmare. It's *slightly* better now since they've provided boxes for USPS packages (only). FedEx and UPS packages will have to be picked up at the closest pickup spot. Security is lame. If an incident occurs between 6pm and 10pm you're better off calling the cops directly because there's no security (they start at 10pm). Cable TV *was* Time Warner and relatively cheap (or free for basic). Now it's AT&T U-verse and expensive (and now they tack the charge onto your rent....so you pay for it no matter what. I wouldn't mind if it was as cheap as Time Warner). The parking garages are OK but I think assigned parking should be used (parking after 9pm is not fun).

Downtown Dallas Reviews

I love living in downtown. Not only does it feel like a real city, but there is significantly more diversity than other neighborhoods close to SMU such as the Park Cities and Uptown. It's very walkable and the DART station is only a 5 minute walk away. There are also plenty of restaurants and coffeeshops within close walking distance and plenty of green space for dogs as well.
So far I like living in Downtown. There isn't a TON of things to do but there are bars and restaurants and it's not far from Deep Ellum and Uptown where there are a lot of options. Both DART and bus stations are nearby, and direct access to almost any interstate since they all cross downtown, which is convenient.

I have always slept with earplugs but I don't find Downtown Dallas to be particularly noisy at night. There are a lot of sirens from fire/ambulance but there is not a lot of noise from people being rowdy at night. There is obviously more on the weekends but still not enough to really be a bother. If you move to a downtown area, more noise than in a suburban neighborhood is to be expected.

Disappointing things about downtown: there is no grocery store! There is a CVS and several 7/11s but no grocery store in walking distance.
Close to downtown, deep ellum, and farmers market. Area is up and coming meaning there are still a lot of homeless people who roam but in general I feel fine with it. It's nice to not be in a cookie cutter part of Dallas like Uptown.
-within 5 minute uber of Deep Ellum/Uptown nightlife and restaurants; ~10 minutes to Lowest Greenville.

-walking outside is fine during the day, but I would buddy-system at night if you are a girl.
Living in the Arts District is awesome. lots of car break ins and a few homeless people that are always loitering around.
living 3 blocks from deep ellum can be challenging in the weekends where street parking is non existent
I love living in Downtown, but it's probably not for everyone.
It's downtown so of course there's a things to be on the lookout for, however, majority of the crime is committed on the weekend by people who don't even live there.
The Deep Ellum community is friendly and you will always see people jogging or walking their dogs in the area.
