Avenue M Apartments

For a complex that claims to be for college students 12b is nothing but added stress. I lived at 12b for over 3 years and the management has changed 3 times, if that doesn’t warn you I don’t know what will. Initially when I lived with my first 3 roommates we received a noise complaint at 8:00pm and were never given a warning that made all of us pay $100+. The parking is a whole separate issue… the spots are tiny and right next to poles. Long story short your car will get dinged up. All parking spots are a monthly charge that is mandatory because of limited street access and oftentimes there was no free spots to park. You are told to go to the other lot and half of the time your gate sensor won’t work. Within the past year there was some sort of “payment system issue” where residents were not being charged for parking which resulted in a $100 + charge added to me and my fiancés account labeling us deliquent, when it was in fact the systems fault. Did we receive a notice of any kind ? NOPE, not even an email. The road leading to both Avenue M I & II was never paved the whole time I lived at 12b and resulted in flat tire after flat tire for so many residents. Fire alarms are faulty and the emergency service number you are told to call was nothing but a rude every-time. My washing machine broke twice I had to wait over 6 months for that to be replaced. On top of being a full time student and part time worker I brought my clothes to the laundromat and was ignored anytime I asked for an update. I am shocked to say they gave me $30 for the expense of laundry but it was well over that. After moving in 3 years ago I finally moved out and they told me I never payed a security deposit as well as attempting to charge my fiancé and I $540 for a cleaning fee ($270 per person). When in fact the evicted tenants before my fiancé and I left dog food, dog hair and a mess everywhere which was not cleaned up when we moved in. During a thunderstorm last summer our windows also were leaking just like the other review left on this page. during the winter my electric bill was around 200$ per month due to the awful installation and apartment being on the first floor (I will attach pictures). The current manager is not kind helpful or organized what so ever.

I chose this apartment community because of its proximity to the College of Business Building. Also, I enjoyed that someone read and acted upon the College Pulse Surveys.
