Would recommend

This place is great if you are not opposed to a little farther walk to school (about 20 minutes) or driving. Very nice community and quite building that's perfect to relax in after a long day at school or to work in when you are tired of sitting in the library.

Everything is good except.....

Everything is good except.

There is a train station right next to the apartment. When you are in zoom for Class or Exam, not very often but an alarming sound, train squeaking sound may be an issue for a sensitive person.

Also, this is a common noise issue for every apartment considering the same things happened in my classmates' apartments, but the FOOT stomping sound upstairs is really horrible. Some part of the ceiling wall is not well soundproof that almost every footstep or any stuff move sound gives you an amplified version of the sound that feels like titan living upstairs.

Other than that, everything this apartment offers me is almost perfect. Close to the university and many good places. Especially, their management is so kind, helpful and every request serves in good time manner.

One more important thing to consider is this place is filled with lots of tour visitors that give you a good vibe. However, under our covid circumstances, this could raise your risk.

Velocity Review

The best part about living here is the location. I enjoy being in the heart of the Gulch and being within walking distance to stores, food, downtown, etc. Living within 6 minutes of school makes participation in class and extracurricular activities easier. That being said, the Velocity doesn't have a pool or an area to lay out in the sun. Also the building is "old" so I feel like there is always something that is being repaired. Whether that is the elevator or the parking garage fence, or even my A/C, there is always a maintenance issue. Lastly, the company that owns the building now uses the 3rd floor as an AirBNB type situation, so I don't feel like my apartment is as secure and safe as before.

Velocity

Great location in the Gulch. Velocity is very close to restaurants and a few bars. The area isn't too noisy at night. The studio apartments are nice, modern design. I love living here. Price is reasonable for the location, and amenities provided.

The Gulch Reviews

Living in the gulch is fun, there’s a lot to do in walking distance. It’s nice to have the feel of the city without being right downtown.
Pros: Very convenient to Vanderbilt and downtown, two (albeit expensive) grocery stores in walking distance, restaurants & retail in walking distance, relatively safe

Cons: Tourist and bachelorette party central— Thursday afternoon through Sunday night there will be party wagons passing by your window on the hour
The gulch is more expensive but centrally located to other areas like music row, midtown, germantown, and dowtown/broadway
I love the Gulch! There is the Turnip Truck which is a small, overpriced grocery store, but I appreciate having in cases where I don't want to drive to Kroger. There are also plenty of restaurants and shopping options for when family/friends visit. They recently opened a small dog park, which is great if you have a dog. I also like going on walks outside, so it is nice to live in an area that is highly populated by foot traffic, so I don't feel as nervous going on walks alone.
I love the location, walking distance from everywhere in the gulch and midtown.
I live on the border of the gulch and midtown and couldn't be happier. There is so much to do and I can literally walk everywhere.
There are a ton of great bars and restaurants around the Gulch and its fairly centrally located. Its not a bad walk to Broadway, Music Circle, or Division and is close to the highway. The only downside is the noise on the weekends, but even then, its not a huge party scene late at night. Overall, the neighborhood is great.
Nice to have things in walking distance, but the gulch is very expensive. Good bars on division and demonbruen.
