Great Apartment
Building is a little older and there aren't a lot of amenities, but it's a great space and a good price for the neighborhood. Management has always been pretty responsive and takes care of the property well. Great, central location. Overall very happy with living here!

Great in the summer
This apartment is located right by Meridian Hill Park. It is perfect for the summer, as you can take a break in the park without having to walk more than 5 minutes! The apartment isn't as nice as, say, the one's on 14th street, but it is a more low-key environment and not as rowdy.

Columbia Heights Reviews
Regarding neighborhood safety, there are occasionally shootings unfortunately. I have never personally felt unsafe even at night, but realize others might feel so.
If you value quiet, try to go a block or two away from 14th street (which is a popular artery for fire engines / ambulances / police cars - i.e. lot of sirens).
Con: Increasing amounts of gentrification in this neighborhood is increasing rent prices
