The Clarendon reviews and highlights
- A little expensive, but worth it
- Steps from the Clarendon Metro Station
- Rooms are really clean
- Management as well as the staff are really friendly
- Trader Joe's, CVS, and a bunch of restaurants are all within a block or two
- Maintenance responds quickly to requests
Good first apartment
Pretty standard/cookie cutter layout, fairly new, building amenities were solid (gym, pool on ground floor, grills, community center, etc.). Very similar to the other big apartment buildings in the area. Make sure you send your notice to vacate if you aren't renewing your lease, we got kind of screwed by that

Love it here
I love living at The Clarendon for many reasons. First, the location is unbeatable. I'm 25 minutes (driving)/35 minutes (metro) from work (McLean/Tysons), 10 minutes to Reagan Airport-DCA, 15 minutes to D.C. People told me I would miss out socially if I lived in Arlington, but I placed proximity to work over living in the city, and I'm so glad I did. Clarendon is the most similar to D.C. as an Arlington neighbor can get, and I live within a 2 minute walk from 5 bars, a Trader Joes and Whole Foods, as well as many amazing restaurants. Only downside to Clarendon is the rent is higher than in other parts of Arlington. I pay about the same as someone living in D.C., but I get more for my money (more amenities, square footage, modern style vs. older building).

Convenient, Clean, Friendly Staff
The Clarendon offers an unbeatable location. Right on the metro, easy walking distance to 3 grocery stores and innumerable restaurants. The staff is friendly. However, it is very expensive and the rent increases are absurd at 10-15% per year. Living here long-term is unsustainable because nobody's income rises that fast. Also, the apartments look high end, but the build quality is cheap. For example, all the interior doors are thin hollow-core so sound flows through a closed door like it's still open.

The Clarendon
Nice apartment building. Much more space for the money than other buildings in the area. Management is very responsive.

Pets Welcome
Its a typical high end Arlington apartment. Nice apartment, amenities, etc. If you have a pet, Equity is great. However, if you do not have a pet the noise from the dogs can be a bit overwhelming. Equity is one of the few management companies that allow large dogs. Accordingly, there are a lot of dogs in the building. It actually started bothering my allergies even though the dogs were not in my unit.

Location, Location, Location
The best part about this apartment is the location. It is in the heart of Clarendon, right next to tons of bars and restaurants. It is just steps away from the metro as well. Although it is quite pricey, the management is very friendly and maintenance problems are taken care of swiftly. Overall, I would recommend this apartment to anyone.

Right next to Clarendon metro stop, convenient to grocery stores/bars/restaurants, great staff and management, safe and new looking apartments.

Great Location , Outrageous Price.
While the location of The Clarendon can't be beat (within minutes of both the Metro, the bars, and the local trader joes!), you do have to pay an arm and a leg to live here. The amenities do include a small gym facility and an outdoor pool but both are often crowded and the pool is only open during the summer months. The apartment itself is nice and the bedrooms are large but ultimately not worth the high price-point.

Management Inflexibility - Equity is a large company and as inflexible as a robot. Tenants are treated with indifference by Equity management.
I'll be moving, and not returning to any Equity Residential property the day my lease expires due to:
1. A policy of Charging tenants late fees (~$500) due to staff errors - What errors? Equity Residential cancelled my rent autopay without notifying me in any way resulting in a late payment. My bank profile was also deleted from the payment system with no explanation. When I inquired as to why my payment was cancelled, I was told it was due to the fact I was transferring units within the property that month, and this was standard policy. Maybe the agents could have let me know as part of the processing? I've never had a late payment for the previous 9 months, despite an antiquated web-based system that always takes 3-5 days to update your payment status.
2. Staff misleading customers when trying to transfer from one unit to another on the property. I was given a 24 month lease after I was told I was signing a 10 month agreement. When I tried shortening the agreement to 12 months, (still weeks before moving), I was required to pay a $2940 fee because the shorter lease term came with a lower rent than I was already paying. In this case; a $25 difference; which I offered to pay out of pocket for the duration of the lease.

Great location. Clean and beautiful shared areas
The apartment is one block away from the Clarendon Metro Station. It's a great location with a 24-hr CVS, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods, and a variety of shops within walking distance. It's definitely not the cheapest option in Clarendon, but the amenities (gym, 24-hr front desk service, shared lounge area, pool, etc.) make this apartment a good deal.

MOM's market is on-site. I shop there occasionally but prefer the cheaper option of Giant down the street (a short drive or walk). The metro is a short and safe 5-minute walk away. The building does sit right off Lee Highway, but I have never had any noise or other problems associated with this. I like how quickly I can pull onto the major road instead of navigating around crowded city traffic. I drive to school in under 5 minutes via Lee Highway.
