Nice View and Modern Apartments

Living at Riverview has been a very nice experience. I have been here since a year and the apartment is very modern, bright and with extremely nice view to Downtown Austin and Lake. The apartment has full size washer and dryer and the maintenance staff are friendly and efficient. A bit expensive but it is a new complex.

Prime location but could be at a lower price

My apartment at riverview is a nice spacious place that can fit two people or a couple with the 1.5 bath available. The views are great from the apartments and I like the gym where you can exercise and have a street view at the same time. Parking space is a bit limited and the price is relatively expensive but the location is great and close to downtown.

Lovely location, lots of price increases in the last 12 months.

Riverview is a nice place to live - very close to downtown and nice apartments, however the increasing costs of the rent don't really make sense. In 18 months, it has increased by $400-$500 per month!

The new management have set out to improve things, however in doing so, they've had to cause quite a bit of inconvenience.
I also don't understand why we pay for an extra parking space for our apartment if the security gates are not shut very often, and we have had a number of robberies as a result.
People also try to rent the properties out on Air BnB, which results in strangers gaining entry to the facility which doesn't speak well to the security issue.
Riverview tries to be a community, through its "Cares" program, where every now and then they host events for the residents, but I'd honestly prefer the money spent on this program to be used to reduce the high cost of rent.

Overall, the location is great, but for an apartment that isn't exactly downtown, paying downtown prices seems a little crazy.

Riverview has been an amazing place to call home. I love being on the water, having a gym onsite, an amazing pool, and even better residents who are now my friends. Awesome events are planned every month and thew new management is wonderful. No regrets!

Don't live here

I am very unhappy with the management of this apartment community. It switched about a month ago and it's been nothing but a headache. They are trying to make unnecessary improvements and enforce minor rules that are not being followed meanwhile there are many things that are not being enforced. Such as a party thrown by some residents one evening that was very loud. It went on until after midnight and they were propping doors open for their guests to come in which could have let anyone into our "secure" building. Also, when they were finished they left the lounge a complete disaster with alcohol bottles strewn everywhere and trash completely filling every square inch of the room. I could go on and on about how the management cares nothing about making this "luxury" apartment somewhere worth living. We are graduate school age and chose to pay more to live somewhere that wasn't the "college scene" yet it's consistently loud in the hallways and nothing is done. There is apparently new security that patrols every evening, but I have yet to see them.

Getting around Riverside

Riverside Reviews

20 reviews
There's lots to do, eat, and drink right in the Riverside neighborhood, and getting to downtown or the East side is so easy if you want to do something different. Lots of great local spots to eat (mostly counter-service style), ranging from sports bars to Tex Mex to Vietnamese food. There's plenty of standard chain restaurants as well (again mostly counter service places). Being close to the Town Lake trail is prime. Some areas don't feel very safe at night, but most of the streets are well-lit. Police often patrol the area, which could make you feel safer or more concerned. Overall, a great area to live that is constantly improving!
Riverside drive especially the east part is relatively a new growing neighborhood. Grocery shops like Walgreens, CVS and HEB are nearby. It is also a relatively safe area and calm. It is close to UT campus with a 10 min drive only in normal traffic.

Moreover it is surrounded with the beautiful access to the river and lady bird lake.
Night life is a bit not much available and most of the action is in downtown of Austin which is very close.
Riverside is growing with many restaurants and grocery shops. There are some constructions going on and it is relatively quiet unless it is rush hours.
It is close to downtown and to UT campus.

Relatively less safe than downtown because of homeless people around.
Riverside neighborhood is a growing neighborhood with many restaurant chains and local tex-mex restaurants. Many gaz stations and many grocery stores. 15 min to UT and 10 min to Downtown with a quick access to the river trails.
Pros:
Close to Downtown and UT
Price is cheaper than other areas that are closer to UT
Plenty of grocery shops.
Calm area except on rush hours
Access to river trails.

Cons:
Homeless people.
Safety.
I heard Riverside had a less than perfect reputation before I moved here. I would say that the closer you are to the river the better you should be as it has also become a very desirable location. Riverside, as a neighborhood, is split by Riverside Drive, so try to find a place in the zone closest to the river. Also, prices are usually lower than in other areas closer to campus.
I really like how accessible it is to the other neighborhoods, given its location on the trail, but it is very new and they are putting up a bunch of new apartment buildings and the dining/bar scene hasn't quite filled out yet.
The path by the river is great if you like to cycle or run. I love running down to auditorium shores, using the outdoor gym and then running back. it's a perfect workout.
