A Place That Needs Work
I have now lived here for two years. I will start with the pros and end with the cons.
Pros: The location is excellent! I live near the transit center and can easily access the Red Line and/or the buses. It takes about 40 minutes by train and about an hour via bus (so you can study on either).
The apartment is relatively updated, with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. The kitchen has a nice amount of cabinet space, and my bedroom has two closets. I also have a balcony with a lovely view of the DMV. Finally, I have a den space that I use for studying purposes and virtual meetings.
I cannot hear my neighbors; maintenance does a decent job of fixing most problems.
Downtown Silver Spring (DTSS) is a nice area that is a city away from the city. It's easy to find restaurants, grocery stores, medical appointments, and recreational activities.
Safety is decent, but the front desk must stop letting everyone in.
Lastly, I like that we have a lounge on the 21st floor, 24-hour gym access, and a pool on the rooftop.
Cons: Management is very slow to answer calls. We had a roach infestation this summer, and it has taken nearly 4 months for the problem to be resolved.
Communication with the office is tough in general, and using the phone number is not effective, so it's better to go to their office.
The apartment has security cameras that need fixing, and the garage door breaks every few months.
There are four elevators, and it's unlikely that one or more will not work regularly.
Currently, the gym code is not needed to enter the gym, which is a security issue.
With all of the problems, the rent is not really worth it anymore. It is expensive to live here, especially on a medical school budget.
Overall, it's not the worst apartment, but it's not the best. I would not recommend it after my second year of living here based on the unprofessionalism of management.

Nice, but expensive
I have been living here for a few months, and it has been pretty pleasant. Management is somewhat available through text, and your packages are secure. The entire building, in general, is pretty clean, and you will often see the janitorial staff during the midday.
Regarding transportation, it will take about 20-30 minutes to get to HUCM if you drive and 30-35 minutes for the metro (you must transfer from the red line to the green line). There is a parking garage with multiple floors that you can also use.
This is a lovely property regarding location and amenities, but you must be willing to spend quite a penny. However, if you like being close to the metro and in a city away from the city, this is an excellent place to live. For studying, it is relatively quiet (the walls have steel between them because of the train), and there are two conference rooms that you can choose from. In terms of the apartment itself, it is somewhat updated with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and wood floors.
Also, maintenance gets back to you pretty quickly and ensures you have a working phone since almost everything is controlled through that (parking, apartment, maintenance requests, paying rent, etc.).
Nonetheless, if guests visit or stay overnight, the garage parking is pretty pricey, and the garage next door is $1/hr. Thus, there is virtually no free parking as street parking also requires payment.

It was a nice place before Covid
This building has declined on everything. Administration does not send emails for updates on broken elevators; garage doors; parking cameras out-of-service; marihuana odor coming through your apartment vents; and list goes on.
2023 one year increased rent was 10% and for two years 20%. Very different before pandemic. UDR Headquarters are MIA. They are clueless or don't care about Eleven55 tenants.
New buildings in the area have better amenities for a cheaper rent. The only good thing about this building is its location. Besides that, I wont rent again. My feelings about THESE PEOPLE is equal to a rotten tomatoes movie ratings.
Security: none, Silver Spring crime rate has increased. It is better to live in Northeast Washington DC or close to Naval area.

Spacious Apartment without Problems
I haven't had any issues with this property. Management is nice and maintenance has been timely. Very close to Metro/construction across the street so can be fairly noisy throughout the day.

Loved my time here
Great time there, good staff. They’re not sympathetic to Howard giving students their financial aid late though so last January I was pretty close to being evicted. Other than that it’s a great place to live

Great Building, Awesome Location
Eleven55 is a beautiful building with a perfect location. It is right next to the Silver Spring Metro and bus station if you need to go anywhere else like downtown DC. If you want to stay in Silver Spring, there are 3 grocery stores walking distance.
