Westover Apartments Review
Good, spacious, cheep apartment
-
1 bed / 1 bath
Pretty good, but could use more natural light
Overall: this apartment is a good price for what you get and has lots of closets and wood floors, but is lacking in amenities and natural light.
LIVING ROOM:
Large, good layout for furniture. Slightly strange paneling on walls that makes hanging pictures somewhat challenging, but adds visual interest. Large closet with light.
BEDROOM:
Small side of medium. Three windows. Medium-sized closet. Not much to say.
KITCHEN:
This is a very ugly but functional room. Small but good gas stove, full-size fridge, "mini" dishwasher. Two medium countertops and lots of cabinets. Room for a small table. Plumbing can be testy and I wish there was a sink sprayer and garbage disposal. The worst part is the faux linoleum tiling, which is really hideous and peels up at every edge.
BATHROOM:
Small and lacks storage inside, but has a large closet outside the door. Hot water is pretty dependable. Big, deep bathtub, which I love, but for some reason someone painted over the porcelain. Now the paint flakes off. Textured window for privacy. Plumbing can be testy.
HEATING:
The radiators are also unpredictable (sometimes are on when it's warm and off when it's cold, and they have a tendency to clang in the middle of the night. There is one radiator in each room (the bedroom, bathroom, living room, and kitchen).
SECURITY:
The apartment and surrounding area feel safe to me. You must enter a code and use a key to get in.
LAUNDRY:
There is a creepy laundry room in the basement that takes quarters, but I use the awesome card-operated laundromat across the street.
LOCATION:
10 minute walks to 46th St MFL Station and liquor store, 10~15 to grocery store. Several bus routes are within a few blocks. Less than 5 minutes to 34 trolley. Convenient to shopping and restaurants along Baltimore as well as around 44th and Walnut/Locust.
PETS:
I paid a reasonable pet deposit for my two cats to be here.
PARKING:
Ample free street parking. This area does not require a permit.
