Nice Place

The Ascent is a very nice looking apartment. Though, the management is frequently changing and maintenance staff seems small relative to the amount of tenants. Though, new management has joined so the hope is that they'll fix the issues. Parking $25 for 1 car and $75 for a second; and YOU WILL GET TOWED if you do not have visible parking passes. The coffee machines would break frequently and the elevators were not consistent - living on the 19th floor this was a major issue. Also, it is a non-smoking apartment. The views on the east and west are amazing. I lived on the east and saw the sunrise almost daily; and at night the well-lit establishments made it a city feel. The units are small compared to other apartments in the area and it does not have a business center so you'd have to ask Concierge to print if you do not own a printer. The apartment is about 98% occupancy so there are a lot of people coming in and out. The rooftop pool and penthouse is really a great place to host. Though, the furniture does not look as clean as it should. Sometimes the TVs don't work in the penthouse and the water filter in the gym needs to be replaced (we've had to remind them of these things because there are obviously no "check-ins"). The Ascent is a beautiful place to live and host guests but sometimes as tenant I felt like the amenities were not up to par. The surrounding area is great! Location is actually perfect for working in Tysons. Walking distance from Starbucks, McDonald's, gas station, etc. Shopping is super close with the Tysons Mall & Galleria 5-7mins away. Other shops like DSW, TJMaxx, Walmart, Marshall's, Home Goods, Pier 1 are close by as well - I could see most of these shops from my balcony. Wide-range of restaurants are nearby also; like Ruth Chris, Chipotle, Chic-fil-a, Panera Bread, Smashburger, Sakura, Potbelly's, McCormick&Schmick etc.

Good, not great

It's a great location with unbeatable access to the Metro. Things seem to go wrong, though. No hot water, elevators being out for several days, concierges that anyone in (so what's the point of locks on doors?). The entryway and gym are nice, though.

Great place to live in Tyson's

The building in nearly brand new. The floors, kitchens, bathroom, and appliances are all top notch and each unit has a washer and dryer. Can't ask for much more. The views from some of the higher units are pretty incredible too. Management and leasing staff have been wonderful so far!

The Ascent

I love my apartment! I hear other tenants complaining about things like noisy elevators that they can hear from inside their apartments, unresponsive management when it comes to repairs, etc, but none of this applies to me. It's chic, professional, great amenities, and so much more. I will say the parking garages are dangerous because they're so narrow and people speed like crazy. Other than that, I have no complaints.

Getting around Tysons Corner

Tysons Corner Reviews

Pretty good neighborhood.. family-oriented but enough young people nearby to be interesting. Most of the families in the area are "young" families (new parents). Short drive from Tysons Business Park, Tysons Mall, and Mosaic District, so plenty to do nearby.
It's not the city, but it's fast becoming a metropolis, with the Metro just 10 minutes away and the popular Tysons Corner Mall in reach. Schools are good, parking is still plentiful, and our particular complex is actually, actually affordable and relatively noise-free. If you pick the right side of the Rotonda to live on, you will never hear the Metro and get ample sun.
Tysons Corner is far enough away from DC to not be in the annoying bubble of people who don't own cars. It has nice wide driveable roads and retail is in huge shopping malls like God intended.
Safe, quiet, but not much going on. Most residents are 35+ years old and there are a lot of families. It's a pretty expensive area and consists of mostly office parks. Not walkable.
Close to lots of businesses, safe area, relatively quiet, walking distance to Safeway grocery story and Starbucks. Clean area. Close to various public transportation options.
I love living in Tyson's Corner. I'm close to the mall, close to work, and only a 15 minute drive to Arlington/DC (depending on traffic, of course).
The community itself is secure and close to the metro and grocery stores. All the basics are covered, with outdoor grills and a gym/pool available. The whole community is gated, so your car is separated from traffic. Location for convenient access to work is great, but there is not much to do in terms of restaurants or nightlife in Tysons.
No complaints about the neighborhood. It's right next to a gas station and a Safeway.
