Solid location

Statler is a solid apartment complex with a luxury looking lobby, concierge usually available most hours of the day, and spacious apartments in usually clean hallways. The location is optimal for accessing downtown locations such as Cleveland State University, Playhouse Square, etc. The price for two bedrooms is affordable.

The parking garage needs help as it suffers from break-ins every now and then as most parking garages in downtown do. It can use a cleaning as well and security cameras. Currently the rate is $195.00 a month.

The side entrance on 12th Street at night can occasionally have homeless individuals harassing people passing by. Occasionally, homeless individuals find their way into the building by either following residents entering or through the basement. This is a common problem in many downtown apartment buildings.

The Statler

Living downtown in Playhouse Square is a great change of pace from the university setting. Our drive to school is about 12-15 minutes with morning traffic, but only 8 minutes without traffic. The building is beautiful and is kept very clean and safe. There is a large common room, a gym, and a rooftop terrace accessible to all guests. The rooms are very spacious! Attached parking is an additional $195 per month. The management staff takes great pride in maintaining their property!

The Statler

In a masacre there is no decent place to stand- Leonard Cohen

What can I say about The Statler that hasn’t already been said about Motel 6 or the esteemed gulags of Siberia? As an introduction to our new tenancy they graciously released a cloud of sewer gas into the apartment. I guess that is how they say welcome because when the maintenance arrived after an hour or so with multiple calls and in person visits to the front office they said “oh that just happens.” It has been a great cardio workout as you must run out of the apartment before the sulfur fumes spread through the AC system. On the topic of maintenance they have this fun new innovative program that I didn’t realize I was part of! It’s a way to learn how to fix and maintain all of your own appliances as they strictly bring the parts to your apartment or even better, they take apart the appliance for you so you only have to put it together. So far I have practiced my drywall installation, plumbing, and even my own AC maintenance! There is little question that they want the best experience for you as they provide complementary pets! I personally did not want to partake but they still filled my windows with spiders. How thoughtful!

The Statler

I love my apartment complex. The management team is very responsive and any maintenance requests are taken care of promptly. There is an attached parking garage that is well lit and the community room is beautiful.

Statler Arms-Downtown!

My housing experience has been pretty different from a lot of medical students in that I am living downtown with my fiance as opposed to on the east side where most students live. It's a little more inconvenient to get to school--I can't just roll out of bed 10 minutes before class starts--so if you're not a morning person this probably isn't the best choice for you. But if you're okay with getting up a little earlier, it is super convenient to get to school on the Healthline--and it saves a lot of money on parking! Overall, I absolutely love living down here. There are so many bars and restaurants within walking distance, and pretty much everywhere I would want to go is just a $5-10 Uber away (Cleveland Heights, Ohio City, Tremont, W 6th/9th, etc). The Statler is also right in the theater district, so if you're into that kind of thing, its really nice to be able to just walk out your door and see a show!

Downtown Reviews

The location of the building is great in the sense that you are close to anything you may need. There are grocery stores, bars, restaurants, sport stadiums, and public transport within minutes of walking. Which is great and very convenient if you don't want to have a car! The only drawback is that there is a lot of transit of people during the day, sometime drunk people due to the casinos or the sports game, and sometimes homeless. Which can make it feel unsafe to go out at night. However, there is a lot of security around the square and inside the building 24/7.
Nightlife is great and being located in the Gateway district, there is close access to sports games as well. East 4th St. has wonderful restaurants and bars and is very safe. You do however need to be aware of where exactly you are at night, as sometimes walking one block off the main path will put you in a dangerous area. Public transit, especially the HealthLine, is very convenient and brings me from right outside my door straight to UH.
Downtown in Cleveland is perfect. A quick uber to any other neighborhood, close to tower city, and all highways meet downtown. Traffic because of that can be annoying but realistically only if you're on ninth and/or trying to get on the highway and only from around 4 to 6.
I feel very safe here. Indoor and outdoor parking (between $120-150/month) but it is gated and extremely safe; cameras all around. Overall, it's a very young area and I always feel safe walking around.
Great location! Walking distance to tons of restaurants, bars, and all the stadiums. I haven't ever felt unsafe, but it is downtown in a large city.
Living downtown isn't for everyone, but as someone who enjoys the city, East 4th street is a great place to live. As a Case grad student I love living right by a Healthline stop, which means I don't need to purchase a university parking pass and drive to school. I'm a 3 min walk from Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, a 5 min walk from Progressive Field, and a 20 min walk from the Cleveland Browns stadium. East 4th Street itself offers tons of food and entertainment options, from bars to restaurants to clubs to a comedy club and bowling alley. While this is great for stuff to do, it can also making driving and parking a nightmare if you're hosting visitors any time that there is an event going on in CLE. Additionally, resident parking downtown is minimum $150-200/mo., so you'll want to factor that into your rent if you have a vehicle.
It is located right downtown on Euclid Avenue. The area seems pretty safe during the day, however it does not feel safe at night. The area also gets extremely busy when there is a sporting or other event happening downtown. I have also found that a lot of shopping has to be done outside of downtown.
Because of covid, I think the downtown scene has changed a lot since I’ve been here. Everyone says downtown Cleveland is pretty dangerous but I haven’t felt that way about the area immediately around the Bingham or the flats. The public square area and playhouse square can be a little sketchy at night and there are a good amount of homeless people there.
