Pretty old building but very comfortable. Management is pretty good about responding to maintenance requests in a timely manner. Very very close to campus (quick commute but also some noise/traffic). No provided parking.

Avoid unless you're desperate for a cheap apartment

Cheaper than any other apartments in the area for a reason. Elevator doesn't work and they gave up on fixing it. They will charge you for gas even though the only thing in your apartment that even uses gas is the stove (have fun with that $30/month service charge) and they will refuse to disconnect you. They should include it in rent if it's required.

Electricity is spotty and you can't use appliances if they draw more than 1200 watts (and then you'll see your lights dim.)

Plumbing is a joke and flooding from your upstairs neighbor's toilet is a thing. Along with the mold that comes with that. It's so bad that if you search google you'll see pictures of people's bathrooms with the ceiling caved in from toilet rot water.

I've moved out of this place and I'm glad I did. It is super close and cheap, which is why I stayed there, but don't make the mistake I did.

Beautiful building and apartment with some minor structural issues

The apartment is very large with a lot of storage. However, there are some minor structural issues. Upon moving in, I noticed that some windows were broken; however, management was responsive and fixed the issue. The floors are extremely squeaky, but I live on the top floor so I cannot hear the impact this would have on the neighbors below me. The apartment is located right across from University Hospitals and the Health Education Campus. From the apartment to the Robbins Building is a 5-minute walk. To reach the nursing building and University Hospitals, it is less than a two-minute walk. The one disadvantage to being across from the hospital is the proximity to the Air Ambulance landing dock. The landing pad is located right outside of the apartment and when the helicopter lands or takes off (which it does so often), the noise is extremely loud and disturbing. Another issue with the apartment is the laundry room (located in the basement). The basement is not very well maintained and dark. Often getting to the laundry room is a bit scary. There are doors leading to empty, dark rooms that are often left open. The environment does not appear to be too safe. Lastly, the apartment has central radiator heating that is controlled by the apartment complex. It is turned on anytime the outside temperature drops below 50 degrees and turned off promptly when the temperature rises above 50 degrees. This often leaves the apartment very cold, particularly when the weather constantly shifts.

Studio in the Fayne apartment

It is conveniently located on the campus right across Cornell from the old medical school building, with a shuttle stop right outside the front door to the HEC. This is also close to the 9 route on RTA which can take you close to one Walmart off of Warrensville road and if you ride till the end a Walmart in Mayfield. Though laundry is not included facilities are in the basement and clean. Overall a nice place to live, and convenient due to my lack of a car.

ITS OK

I do not like the apartments, they are old but not well maintained, the laundry its extremely expensive and having to pay both electricity and gas separately its somehow ridiculous. I had issues with insects and there is absolutely no light in my apartment. However, its the cheapest I found close to campus and since I do not have a car, the location its extremely convenient. I am not planning on moving.

Great location, old building

The main selling point is the proximity to campus, but the building is old. You can hear your neighbors from all directions, especially above, which can be distracting or even enough to wake up from sleep. The management company isn't always helpful and always dismissive on the phone. If you prioritize distance to campus (car isn't strictly required), you might be able to put up with the drawbacks.

Lived here for 4 yrs. Worth it at the price and location

Pros:
-very close to school - can get from my apt to the lecture hall in 5 min
-maintenance is responsive
-apartment is clean
-elevator is helpful for move-in
-my packages never get stolen
-shower pressure is pretty good and water gets hot quickly
-lots of windows and light (my windows face Southwest)
-overall great layout. large close space
-I haven't seen any mice or ants (but I am on the 3rd floor)

Cons:
-noisy upstairs neighbors - floors transmit sound very well. I never hear my neighbors next door though
-building is old, so radiator will leak. if there's water issue from upstairs it will leak into my ceiling. windows rattle
-no parking and street parking is hard to come by
-helicopter pad at UH is right outside my window. very loud.
-coin laundry - I wish they had the refillable cards
-radiators heat the whole building, so you can't adjust the temperature of each apartment individually. Most times it is very hot in the wintertime - it doesn't bother me much since I like it on the warmer side and I open a window, but I can see how it might be bothersome.

Getting around University Circle

University Circle Reviews

125 reviews
It's part urban and part suburban. There are nice walking trails around wade oval, but could be dangerous if you're alone during the early or late hours of the day. Walk with a friend or group of friends.

Close enough to campus buildings so there was enough light that I felt safe enough, but once I left campus, felt a little more alert.
The building is in between two large hospitals, Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals, making it very easy for me to get to class/rotations. It is generally safe. The Case Western Reserve University police and Cleveland Clinic patrol the area almost constantly, and I have always felt secure. Additionally, I am close to museums, coffee shops, libraries, bars, and nice places to eat, study, and hang out.
It's a wonderful neighborhood - walking distance to all the museums, botanical gardens, and some of the best restaurants in Cleveland. Also walking distance to a couple coffee shops and the CWRU library and student center, so ideal for studying. The best part: < 5 min commute to school and you get to avoid Cedar coming down the hill.
Living in University Circle while in law school has made a stressful experience pleasant and less complicated. The walk to campus (which is in University Circle) is fabulous - not having to battle hospital traffic and find parking is great. There's a Constantino's Market that provides all grocery needs. University Circle has a diverse range of food options - from upscale dining at L'Albatros, to comfort food in Little Italy, to fast casual in Uptown, you could probably eat somewhere different every night for a month, all within walking distance.

University Circle is THE hub for cultural activity in Cleveland. The Cleveland Museum of Art is my favorite place in the Circle. It has fabulous permanent exhibits and brings in wonderful temporary exhibitions. The museum hosts social events that are perfect for young people more than once a month. The Circle also contains Severance Hall - home of the Cleveland Orchestra, the Cleveland Botanical Gardens, the Natural History Museum, and more!

The area is fairly safe as it is heavily patrolled by UCPD and Campus Police. Ambulances frequent the area to get to the hospital, but that is the only noise complaint I've ever heard of.

I couldn't be happier about living right in University Circle during law school.
The neighborhood is very safe, although I only walk to and from school. From park lane, I would not walk to go grocery shopping as there are not stores nearby except for rite aid.
neighbors are friendly, though due to the location and the vast majority of the people living in the building are working or going to school, rarely see neighbors. The most active time with people in the building are on Friday nights through Saturday night.
There is a lot of things to do in the neighborhood now. It is feeling more like a campus area, with some local flavor mixed in.
There is a grocery store that is very convenient and also the normal college campus chain restaurants like Chipotle.
This is a safe neighbourhood as it's located in the heart of university circle. There are lots of restaurants within one minute walking distance and the public transport connectivity is very good.
