Too expensive for such a mediocre place

The management is horrible, and the maintenance team is horrible. The property is cheaper than other 1 bedrooms, but it's for a reason. The buildings are not kept up well, so I had many cockroach/bug issues. My bathroom had baby cockroaches at some point, and one of them fell on me when I was in the shower. The maintenance team avoids doing anything by saying there's nothing wrong, when there's clearly a problem. I had to spend a lot of time and energy fighting them to get basic things done. If you live here, be ready to fight them a lot, it's like pulling teeth for them to do anything.

Comfortable Living

Management is receptive and quick to respond to issues

We don't hear our neighbors through the walls which I've heard from friends is a problem in other complexes nearby

It's a great location (very close to campus with an ability to go via back roads or the highway in the same amount of time)

It feels more home-y than other complexes.

It is a bit overpriced, but that seems to be true everywhere in Durham.

Alden Place

You would just need to have a car to commute, no bus stops close by. Few police cars are in the parking lot at all times. Also, no elevator.

Apartment

It's nice, definitely a good deal for the price and very close to Duke. Not the newest but well taken care of, good sized gym, and two pools with grills and stuff that you have access to.

Quiet Spot a Short Drive from Campus

Alden Place has been really great as a married student with a kid. There are two nice pools, the management is easy to work with, and maintenance requests get taken care of very quickly. There are lots of areas to walk around, and the complex is conveniently right by the freeway. Several shopping centers are in the area and it is a 5-7 minute drive from Duke.

Living Experience at Alden Place

Its location is good to be close to supermarkets such as Sam's, Target, Harris Teeter and LiMing. I recommend students who have a car or plan to buy a car to live here, because without a car, it is not very convenient to go from it to school.
The community has a swimming pool and gym, and the kitchen is fully equipped. If some maintenance issues were reported on the system, and usually someone will come to deal with it the next day.
