North Dallas —
8.6/10 Rating
(based on 78 neighborhood reviews)
The neighborhood is good. It's noisy and constantly busy, but that's because it is a massive cluster of apartments. It get nasty real quick to the immediate north of the Village. I wouldn't go there during the day. There are plenty of bums, vicious looking criminals, nasty thugs, and the assortment of terrible human beings saturating the area just north of Loop 12.

I love the area surrounding my apartment. There's a swanky shopping center across the street and another shopping center right next door, but Tonti is tucked away such that it still feels quiet and peaceful.
Across Walnut Hill, there's a cool sports bar, a great sushi place, an Orange Theory, a Trader Joe's (my favorite part), a Thai place, a Frost Bank, etc. And Tonti is right off of 75, so it's very easy to head into the city. It only takes 10 minutes to get to SMU from here. Keep reading

I've only lived here for two months so far, but the neighborhood seems pretty safe to me. Although The Village Hill isn't a gated community, I've seen many mothers walk with their babies and dogs around the property. Dallas has a homeless issue as do most major cities, but I've never seen any wander this far in.

I like the neighborhood. It is quiet and pedestrian friendly. It is great if you are a jogger or have a dog! There are sidewalks, a walking/running path, and a dog park across the street and accessible to anyone living in the Village.
I also like that there are three different grocery stores within a two-mile radius and many eateries off Greenville. Keep reading

basic requirements like shopping mart and grocery stores are a little far away but if you have a vehicle, it will not be an issue. or, you can even walk, but it would take considerable amount of time.

I honestly didn’t recognize this neighborhood name until I looked it up. Outside of the Village, the area doesn’t have much of an identity. Retail options nearby are nice and restaurants are good, but there isn’t much of a social scene. You’ll want to head down to lower Greenville, uptown, oak lawn, or deep ellum for bars and things to do. All of those are a short, cheap uber away so it isn’t a big deal.

The neighborhood is super pet friendly. I always see people walking their dogs. The neighborhood is also very safe. The Village has its own private security that drives around the property 24/7. It is also super affordable compared to other Dallas apartments, and I think it is a great bang for your buck. The neighborhood is also mainly young people, from what I can tell.

While the Village feels like an escape from the city, Greenville ave. is right there, giving easy access to restaurants, grocery stores, and other kinds of shopping. Dallas proper is only about twenty minutes away by car, and DART is also nearby and easy to use. I have a 5-10 minute commute to campus most days, and if I didn't want to drive, the SMU express has several stops in the Village, making it easy to take (free!) public transportation.

The neighborhood is great! It's near school and super safe. There's 24-hour Village security that covers all of the Village properties. There is a lot of construction happening because they're building a new apartment and shopping/restaurant center nearby, but that should be finished soon.

The Village Dallas
There is hardly anything to complain about the village apartments considering the value that you get for the price you pay for your stay. The management has never been rude or not-helpful to me for all the time I've shown up at their office with problems or service requests, they have their own patrol service going for rounds in the premises which you can call to pick you up if you feel unsafe to go out at night.
It's very serene neighborhood with lots of greenery, well maintained lawns, ponds, swimming pools and regular social events conducted by the management to which they invite all the residents to. It's also very close to many major grocery stores with bus services going there(Tom Thumb, Central market, Krogers and Walmart to name a few). The only drawback being that the apartments are quite "unfurnished" compared to other rental properties in an American scenario. But hey, why complain when you pay almost half the rent(or even lesser) compared to other options out there? Also all my service requests have been promptly attented to so far whether I made them online or at their office. One thing I really appreciate about them is that they make you free duplicate keys to your apartment if you ever end up losing yours. It's a couple of miles away from SMU, which is not that far but a bit away from the university, but you have that covered too as the free bus service of SMU runs through the village. One more tip for international renters, keep enough money to pay one month of rental money as a refundable deposit apart from the rent that you'll have to pay, since they ask for it from renters who do not have a credit history in united states(after running a credit check on your name). Which is fair considering they do not have any other information on us to trust us. Keep reading
