Average Apartment - wouldn’t recommend
I’ve lived in the apartment complex for four years now and it’s been on a steady decline. It used to be worth the price but the state of the facilities and amenities have declined, the staff aren’t friendly or every helpful, and it’s ultimately just not worth the money anymore.
Best Value per Square Foot
The complex is nice and is the best price per square foot value in the broader Midtown area. The issue, however, is that the complex is not close to campus and takes 15 min door to door including parking. Additionally, there's not very much that's within walking distance of the development.
Great but slightly far
Great building, friendly staff, but slightly further away from Owen GSM (around a 15 minute walk).
One City Center, best modern apartment building in Durham
If you want to live in an apartment building that feels like it belongs in NYC, Miami, or Chicago (in a good way), look no further! The amenities are great, and the views are the best in town. The only con is that it is 10 minutes away from campus, and not many students live nearby, so having a way to commute around town is key.
Note 16
Location: Very near to Peabody college, but doesn't have any bus/store/grocery scores nearby. Convenient to go to school if you study in Peabody, but not convenient for living.
Price: High, doesn't match with the facilities and service.
Experience: Very noisy if living near street, the sliding door and floor are not sound-proof completely.
Service: Not following the waiting list and didn't get notification when the room visited was rent. Gym is super small. Maintenance comes quick.
Note 16 Apartments
I've had a very positive experience as a resident at Note 16 Apartments. Management was a little hard to get in touch with during the lease application process but since moving in they have been incredibly friendly and very responsive! Rent is definitely pricey for someone living alone on a graduate student stipend but the proximity to Vanderbilt campus as well as some local cafes & restaurants makes it well worth it. There's a small apartment gym in the lobby, covered parking, and a handful of nice communal areas to enjoy. My only complaints have been thin walls (I mostly have issues with hearing my upstairs neighbor) and somewhat limited storage space (1 bedroom closet, no bathroom or hall closets). Overall a really lovely place to live!
Safe, Clean, & Friendly
I have had a pleasant experience living here so far. Management is very nice and often has free pizza/food in the afternoons. Parking is not difficult to find, there is always enough. The staff are also very nice, the common areas are kept clean and maintenance comes within 24 hours of submitting a request. Most neighbors are respectful, with no loud parties, although I can hear my upstairs neighbors walking around and I can hear dogs barking occasionally. I feel safe coming home at night and don't worry about safety inside my apartment. You have to scan your keys or use a remote to get in the building or parking garage. It's super close to the park and not far from school, downtown, or restaurants. Also, NO BUGS!!! I have found a total of 2 bugs in my apartment in the past 3 months, when I used to find multiple a day at previous complexes.
West End Village is great!
I love my apartment at West End Village. I think the apartment is a good value for the area and have had no issues in my time living here. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the building is clean and secure. On the few occasions I have had to file a maintenance request for very minor problems, they responded so quickly, within a day every time! I would definitely recommend it to future graduate students.
Great but slightly far
I love our apartment building, it's small and does not have a lot of Vanderbilt students if that's what you're looking for. Very clean, the maintenance staff is amazing, has a pool, gym, and covered parking and the management is very active and responsive. The only downside is that it's slightly away from Owen, it would take us 20 minutes to get to school on foot, so we usually take the bus. The bus takes us 10 minutes to get to campus and is very convenient but we sometimes have to wait for it to arrive.
Not Bad - Used to be Better
I've lived at the Guthrie for over three years now, and I honestly wouldn't recommend it to anyone to live. I loved it under Greystar management, but when the management changed (about 1 year ago), things fell apart. Currently, the apartment complex is not well-kept (dirty and broken), the staff isn't very friendly, and operations are not efficient. The location is great, as it's in the north end of the Gulch, next to a dog park and Publix, etc.
Good location and apartment
Neighborhood is quiet, residential, and walking distance to campus. Apartment is nice with decent amenities(free coffee, gym, dog run, courtyard). The manager and maintenance have always been responsive. My floor plan has a designated office spacer, which has been great!
Good value price:space
semi convenient location and fair rent price. would be nice to have more natural light and thicker walls.
Great place w/ a great location
The management is great and very quiet for studying. Most people keep to themselves and there is a nice gym and pool. Its about a seven minute drive to the law school.
Excellent Experience
The property is beautiful and well-kept. The staff are friendly and always happy to assist. The management also go out of their way to run free community events and get togethers.
West End Village Is Great Value
Best maintenance and management teams I've ever had in an apartment
