It’s the Booth dormitory
It’s easy to commute to Harper and Gleacher, relatively cheaper than other downtown apartments, and all of my classmates live here too

Solid value for what you pay. Don't except quiet or nice amenities though.
You get what you pay for in the Loop. This building is very affordable, especially for graduate students. However, the trade offs are less than responsive management staff, extreme street noise from Michigan Ave, a less than stellar gym (worse than a hotel), a useless pool, communal laundry, and various other average amenities. Convenience to Metra is great.

You Get What You Pay For
It is by far the cheapest option in the area. Overall, it is a very good bargain for Chicago, especially in the Loop. However, the elevators are rickety, and I've been trapped several times. Management has no desire to replace them, and probably because of the high cost. Also, it is very noisy, but I think that is the area, not apartment-specific. I lived in Chicago 4 years prior to this and was surprised by the noise level at MPP.

This place is old and falling apart
I don’t feel safe living in this building anymore. The building is clearly very old and it is not well maintained. The walls are paper thin and the insulation is terrible (my apartment does not get above 65 in the winter). There are layers and layers of dirt and dust and weird smells everywhere.
The gym is not impressive - no free weights and machines are constantly breaking. Also no internet or cell service in the gym.
Oh, and the elevators are constantly breaking, which management shows a dangerous disregard for.
DO NOT MOVE HERE.

Excellent
Pros:
Excellent location - super, super close to the metra and other attractions
Big space - spatial apartment definitely enough for a couple and two pets
Proximity to fellow students - more than half of Boothies live here - not only is it convenient for group work, but super convenient for carpooling in the winter
Staff - Staff super responsive to requests
Cons:
Can have thicker walls - can hear neighbor partying at 2 AM; however staff super responsive to help stop the noise
Can have better lighting

MPP is fine
MPP is just fine to live for two years as an unemployed grad student. It's not perfect (slow elevators, lacks modern amenities, no central a/c), but I think the price reflects all of that. It's also great from a social and convenience factor to live near your classmates.

MPP
Having a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom is a great deal in downtown Chicago for the price. One of the rooms is a master bedroom with an attached walk-in closet and bathroom. The building itself is ok - there's been issues with the elevators recently. Also one thing to consider living in MPP is that sometimes there will be lines of people (Boothies) to get up to the floors due to us all coming back from same event.

MPP dorm
Elevators take forever and the air conditioning units are out of date. But it's a great apartment and location for the price!

Good Enough for 2 Years
I probably wouldn't choose to live in MPP (or the Loop for that matter) if it weren't for Booth, but it's a good enough place while you're in business school.

The Loop Reviews
Very close to the lake and navy pier
Great park surrounded by all the buildings.
There’s good supermarket that has everything. A couple restaurants and coffee shops are also there.
That being said, if you're anywhere near State St. or the Mag mile, there's pretty much people around at any given hour. It's fun to live downtown because the streets are bustling with interesting people, sometimes there's live music on street corners and there are a lot of restaurants and shops.
